Ask a machine shop that deals with them regularly about Eagle's quality control.

You get what you pay for. There's a reason Eagles are half the cost of "good" rods. It's not just because of the sizeable child labor force n China.

Ok, let me put it this way.....

I OWN a shop that uses them VERY regularly. I've had more than a few sets pass through my hands. I've yet to see anything but top quality stuff from them. In fact, I would say that they are pretty close to being some of the best machined rods out there. Pick up a set of Crower rods and look at the end caps and its quite clear where it seperates. Pick up a set of Eagle's and you would sware that its one piece with no break.

Oh and by the way, the rods are produced in China but finished state side like some other companies that I know.

Some of you confuse price with quality and strength.

Pistons and rods well I have used many types of both.

As far as rods go I have used Eagle, Crower, Pauter, and Oliver. Cost varies greatly between them so once again one must also concider his/her budget. I have had no problems with any of the above mentioned rods. My personel favroite, and the one's I use in my own motor are the Oliver "parabolic beam" rods. But they are made in the town that I live in and I now some people there, and I have visited there plant.

Pistons well I have used JE, Ross, Weisco, CS, Arias, and again I have had no troubles with any of them. Yes you must get them set up/ clearenced correctly, but that's my job. If the work is not done right it is not going to work. I use JE pistons in my motor and have expierenced none of the problems mentioned above.

I don't think there is a bad choice here, but it will be critical that you get everything set up correctly.

avoid JE pistons, they REQUIRE you to let the car FULLY AND TOTALLY warm up before ANY driving, or you risk piston slap and a fuxored motor..

That is false. Please do no spread misinformation. There is already a ton of it on this board. JE's wont slap if you set them up in the proper clearance. They are not my prefered choice but the statement above is just not true.

I think for the most part, 90% of the DSMers on this board do not need a built motor. The stock motor is PLENTY capable of pushing the HP limits that most here plan on making. Remember, every part of your car that you change from stock, is one more part that could fail and ruin your motor. I personally dont know any machine shops around here that I would trust with building a 4g63 motor. 6 bolt rods on either 1g or 2g pistons can handle over 400HP repeatedly and even more HP for a shorter amount of time. Take that into consideration before you decide that you "need" a built motor.

yeah there is a local shop in(bout 40 minute drive)that builds them alot..
www.beyondredline.com

and i know a guy up there to that builds his own.. (he doesnt trust anybody to do it) he said hed help me if i wanted... his dsm is up in the 30g range now LOL
