walbro o-ring seems loose? - searched

So I go to install my walbro 255, the o-ring is a bit loose compared to the o-ring on the stock pump, is this normal? I can't find a o-ring with a smaller inner diameter with the same outer diameter.

What I did is cut off the female part that the pump goes into and used a small piece of hose with a couple clamps that has held for years now.

The 2g fwd's are different, its a lot shorter and if I cut it, it probably won't have enough space for a hose to fit on.
