Ok, I'm going to buy me a turbo kit soon, but it doest come with fuel mods and I was looking into a good fuel pump and came across the "Walbro", but hear it is real noisy, then I started to think about the 190 Walbro. I researched it but am confused so I thought I'd ask.
I will be running low boost, maybe 10, and I don't really want alot of hp, maybe 250 at the most for now since I'm still in college and funds are somewhat of an issue.
Oh, and I will be using stock injectors. I read somewhere if you don't run alot of PSI and don't let the fuel pressure get past 80 it wont make much noise, and then I read that it is only loud on AWD...I'm FWD.

Has anyone had this problem? I'm just starting out.
I like my cabin nice and quite.:)

Any opinions will help,
Thanks

a 255 HP is the loud one - and it dont matter if your AWD or FWD - its loud either way.
Its also pretty loud all the time - not just at a certain pressure.

I agree with dave99gst, I have the 255 and it was loud, until I did the fuel pump rewire mod. The more power you can get to the pump, the quiter it will be.

Well if you want to run the 255 properly you will need to add an adjustable fpr to your shopping list as that pump will over run the stock regulator. If your trying to save some coin & don't have huge hp goals, get the 190 pump its good for about 400 hp. As for the noise it all depends if you get lucky or not. I was one of the unlucky ones and my 255hp pump is very noisy whereas my buddy who has the same pump that we bought at the same time from the same place lucked out and got one that you can barely hear. We both have the rewire done.

I have a 255 and its noisy sometimes and quiet others LOL. Its alot louder after running for awhile or when its warmer out side.

Yeah the wally 255 is desently loud...nothing an exhaust wont drown out, but I would go with the supra TT its much quiter but supports the same HP and pumps just as much as the wally 255.

you dont need an adjustable fpr for low boost on an n/a

Mine is opposite, louder when its cold or the tank is low on gas, and quiet on hot or fulltank days.

My thoughts, the 255 is loud for the first week you have it in. After that you dont really hear it. I have Michelon tires and the tires are louder with the windows open at 30 mph. With the rear seat on, there is BARELY any sound. As in stock exhaust at 2k rpms overpowers it. Far as I know the 190 and 255 are the same price, so go big. I got mine off ebay for 70 bucks new.

If you are going to do a turbo kit, you got a lot of research to do. And you are going to need a lot more than a turbo and a fuel pump. To start off find a vortech 12:1 FMU. There is OBX, buts its OBX, your call on if you want to save a few bucks or get a good quality item. I got my vortech 12:1 used for 50 bucks.

Check out the 2g non-turbo > turbo conversion forums and the guides in the tech area.

p.s. It sounds pretty damn cool when the pump primes with the back seat off, the fuel pump cover off.

Thanks so so much guys. I'm going to check into the Supra TT.
