I installed my walbro fuel pump recently, and now everytime i try and start the car it takes at least 20 cranks for it to acctually catch...i'm obviously guessing its losing pressure as soon as i shut off the car, but i can't figure out why, i checked most of the tech articles and found somethings about O rings and such, but my O rings are brand new, came with the pump...so i'm not really sure what it could be, if anyone has had the same problem or knows what might be happening it would really help me out...i talked to some friends they were saying the check valve in the pump is gone, but its brand new so i'm not really sure whats up,
thanks

Did you forget to lube up the o-ring they give you in the install kit? You should always do this so the o-ring fits snug like it should. If not, the pressure can seap/leak out and will take a while to crank.

^^^ Exactly.

My o-ring kept kinking when I installed the hood on mine until I lubed it up. Same starting probs as the fuel line is depressurising at that point on shutoff.

alright, i'll have a look at that O ring later and try lubing it up, i beleive i did before, but i'll definatly try it again and see what happens, thanks for your help.

you are sappost** to prime it, turn the key in the on position for 15 secs. then off, do it again, then crank over the engine see if that helps

I have the same problem with my Talon since the fuel pump was replaced with Walbro 255.
When the tank is full, it takes only about three cranks and it starts. When it is getting down
to half a tank, it takes about six or more cranks before it starts. It gets worse when it is close to quarter of a tank. I don't know if this is normal. :talon:

^^^you are misguided

The pump is self priming and will only turn on when you are cranking or have manually tripped the fuel pump relay (next to the battery).

At issue here is that there is not a 100% seal btw pump and fuel line if that o-ring is not seated correctly (took me 3 tries). The Walbro255 pumps an assload more fuel compared to the OEM pump, so if the cranking problem did not exist prior to the install, than the problem most likely lies with your install.

FYI.. during the install you likely have churned up whatever crud has accumulated on the bottom of your tank. This is why it's recommended to always change your fuel filter shortly after a pump install :thumb:
