Hey all, anyone else have a 255 HP? If so, is it loud or quiet?

I ask b/c I have a 190 in my 92 AWD, and its the usual Walbro whine. Loud, no rewire.

However, I had a 255 HP in my 91 FWD w/out a sock and with and without a rewire I couldn't hear it.

I now have the exact same 255 HP in my 93 GSX w/ a sock and a rewire and don't hear it at all.

The car's both ran fine, no fuel supply problems, I'm just wondering.....
Are the 255HP's quieter than the 255 or 190?

My 190 made more noise than my 255 HP and neither was re-wired. I can't hear the thing at all. I've never tried the standard 255 so I can't say if there's a difference, but mine's church mouse quiet and I never hear it fluctuate with turn signals.

I wouldn't worry, but I too find it strange.

Ok sorry to maybe hack your thread butt I have 255 walbro and its loud as shit and also its not rewired but it does fluctuate when I flick for the turn signals. What dies that mean? Also how can I fix that?

Andy are you sure you have a HP?

I have a 255HP with no back seat or carpet, it's not loud but you still know it's thier.

Stock wiring and fuel feed line

I recently switched from a 255 to a 255HP, both rewired. The HP is much quieter than the regular 255 was, but the 255 was on its way out so that might have affected how loud it was.

If you would have searched you would have found your answer. Don't hijack my thread.

I've also got the 255HP and noticed that it was alot quieter than my 190. My 190 was quiet for a few weeks when it was new, then got louder. The 255 has been in my car for at least 2-3 months and it hasn't had the loud whine yet. I can only really hear it when the car is turbo timing and all accessories are off. I am also full interior, but I gutted the car for a track night on Friday and it was still really quiet for a Walbro.

i have a 190 hp and I dont hear it at all ( even with no back seats in the rear ) I have to literally put my head against the back seat flooring where the seats used to be just to hear it a little...

I'll get in on this...I have the regular 255, not the HP, and it's rewired. It's pretty quiet when the car is first fired up and during the winter/cooler months. However, after it has run for a while in the summer months it has the tale-tale whine. You can actually hear it outside the car. I've learned to ignore it unless my wife's in the car asking "what's that noise? I think some thing's wrong."

Oh well, she doesn't ride in the car too much.

Sorry I know this is old, but my 190 with the re wire get is ok when it is first cranked but by warm up its loud as ##### with full interior sounds like the police are behind me. Its only a week old with 2hour of run time is this normal?

Yea, some whine worse than others, with the newer HP versions being the most quiet i've seen. I had one old Mustang styl;e 255 in my car for years and it sounded like a gear drive for a v8 cam LOL
now i have 2 wally 255HP in tank in parrallel and thye are barely noticeable

You guys need to remember to ISOLATE the fuel pump from the frame it sits in with as much rubber as possible. I run a 255HP in the colt, I have no interior or sound deadening and with the car running, you can barely hear the pump. I reused the stock (csm) lower rubber isolator and doubled over the rubber ring that went around the stocker and added some split rubber line to keep it from touching anything solid.
