So I bout this about 6months ago but havent had a chance to mount it until this past weekend. This is not an official write, I just wanted to share what I did because I've learned so much from this site already.

The only issue I had with this was the bolts. None of the bolts that came with setup worked. I had to basically go out and buy some longer fog llight frame bolts (6mm diameter) from Home Depot.

I also included pics of where I had to trim the bumper and bumper reinforcement so I can keep my reinforcement and maximize the showing of my big fridge:thumb:

Also included pics of where I installed my spacers so you can see the gap between the intercooler and PS lines.

Nice write-up bro, came out nice. I can't wait to get my kit again for my current dsm.

Thanks! I thought it was gona be harder than expected. getting a grinder is one of the best tools you can ever have in your collection. Simplifies everything by far!

i know i had fun cutting my crash beam looks great nice install

Since I've done this and put back my stock lights the car look alot better than it did b4 and now I have the infamous civic revs on the highwy and stop lights. I end up embarrassing them but If I actually had it hooked up (just mounted) with my 16G, I would make'em park up. Oooowee I cant wait!

yea your correct, the included bolts do not work at all, you might as well throw them out. it was necessary to go to the hardware store and get new ones. does add time to the install, seeing as you need to see what would work, etc etc.

YUp this project ran into the night, had to make a makeshift drop light to close off. After noticing the bolts didnt fit I went to HomeDepot, autozone, strauss auto, Arch auto and back to HomeDepot ### they're only store that had a 6mm bolt only things was....it was only 50mm long. so I had to used those....as you can see I had to kind squeeze the spacers....I had to slightly bend back the PS lines just enough not to kink'em.

Great writeup, this will definitely help members in the future :)

The reason we include the 8mm bolts is because the installer is meant to drill and tap the existing fog holes. We can easily supply 6mm bolts in place of the 8mm, but I don't feel comfortable mounting a 25lb intercooler core with only two 6mm bolts, especially when you consider how long they are.

Either way, great job with the install the kit looks great!

Wouldn't it be smart to include both the 8mm and 6mm, so the user has a choice. Or does that take to much out of your pocket for 2 extra bolts? Not trying to be mean, just asking!

Extra hardware costs money :(

We'll probably just include the 6mm bolts on our next batch of kits so the customer doesn't have to run out and search for the bolts last minute.

Thanks Mangina24! You were also very helpful in the purchase process of my fridge... I figure that the reinforcement fits pretty flush snug against both left and right sides of the intercooler frame so the 6mm should be ok IMO. But if you say we should really drill and tap for an 8mm fitting maybe I should.

Probably 90% of people just go out and buy 6mm bolts so they don't have to drill and tap and I've yet to hear of one bolt breaking so you should be good. I personally drill and tap every 2g fmic install I do simply because I have the tools readily available but I know that may not be the case for others :)

For as inexpensive as the kit is, I know I didn't have a problem spending the extra $3 to get the right sized hardware to mount mine. I've had both the PR kit and this one, and this one is so much better than the PR kit in terms of size and quality!

I bought the heli-coil kit and drilled mine out to the larger bolts and the kit works great. But this is an old thread the probably didn't need reviving.

It will if you create custom fog light brackets :)

Will that be something you offer in the near furture???

Yes that will great if VRSF make brackets to keep fog . To be-honest that's the only thing stopping me from getting this VRSF fmic because i don't want to lose my fog and its making me lean towards the PR kit.

It will if you create custom fog light brackets :)

HeyManGina why cant you create some custom brackets for your old customers would like to use their fogs again and potential customers that will choose the PR Kit just so they can keep their fogs ?:|

This would make the VRSF Superior over the PR Kit.:p

With all the grinding and cutting involved to get this thing mounted, you should have plenty of material left over to make fog brackets...

You make it seem like so much cutting needs to be done. It took me about 5 min to cut and smooth out the support to allow the piping to go through.

Ah..
I had to cut the support, the fan shroud, the bumper, the bumper support, and lost both fogs. Granted the fan shroud was on me, but it's a lot more than a little cut and you're done. At least it was on a 2ga.
