I'm embarrassed to ask this but what exactly does VR-4 stand for? I asked my boy and he goes Very Rare 4 cylinder joking around. Hehe it sounded good!

I have no idea what it stands for but I know it has something to do with twin turbo's and awd. Somone try posting it on a 3000gt board or you want me to? I am not going to waste my time if it has allready been done. R/T stands for road &track and si stand for sport injection. Lol

It has be posted on 3SI many times and most everybody thinks it stands for "viscous realtime 4WD". It can't have anything to do with twin turbos because the Galant VR-4 only has one turbo. And R/T is the same as VR-4, there is no definitive answer as to what it stands for. I always like the SI name. Sport Injection, the first SI's were carburated. Those things don't inject fuel, but it goes to show ya, "The name don't mean a thing".

Yeah that's what I tell people because they all think it is only on TT's which it is not obviously because of the Galants. Viscous realtime 4WD makes sense.

But i remembered that when i saw the question.
Full Time Four Wheel Drive
Four Wheel Steering
Four Wheel Independent Suspension
Four Wheel Anti Lock Disc Brakes
On the 3SI's im not sure if its the same or not.

3/S's, VR-4 or not have 4W discs and suspension. Also don't all Galants have 4WIS? If it is standard, why make a big point about on the top of the line model? And this brings us back to what the "VR" stand for.

First of all don't bust on spongebob. Second, I'm honestly not sure, my younger brother found it and apparently they are known as "poopy monsters" (go figure) I am easily amused as I'm sure you realized from the avatar. Originally posted by moparacker

And VR-4 and RT don't necessarily mean the same thing, since all 3KGT VR-4s were twin turbo, but not all Steal R/Ts were twin or even single turbo. R/T simply meant you havd the DOHC V-6 in there, and some sport options. For the turbos you had to get the R/T turbo model.
