I admit, i did it for the bling factor but it also helps me monitor my crummy alternator, enjoy guys :thumb:

1. Remove the seats because its a lot easier to remove them than to work around them. Remove the center console.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/2.jpg">
2. I've cut out the cigarette lighter, it has four wires, 2 are for the orange kight ring aournd it and the other 2 are for the actual lighter.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/3.jpg">
3. I got an Autogauge Voltmeter, Its made in Taiwan but looks good, it works and has a warning light if ever voltage drops below 11.5v.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/4.jpg">
4. This is the messy part, you have to cut away a lot of material from the console.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/6.jpg">
6. No turning back here.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/7.jpg">
7. Constantly check for fitment, the last thing you want is to cut away too much material. When you can force it through the hole, its time to stop, it should be nice and tight.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/10.jpg">
8. I use terminals at both ends because I know this isn't the last time I will take out the center console

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/12.jpg">
9. Better shot with no flash. careful not to let the suckers touch any metal, I had the cig lighter power terminal touch something, sparked and I blew a fuse.

10. All assembled up and ready for testing. The meter should read 12.5 - 13 at volts at idle if your alternator is is good.

<img src="http://www.eclipseworx.com/diy/voltmeter/14.jpg">
11. More bling bling for my dash.

Great job, yeah the voltmeter is definitely for bling i have one too, Im going to do water temp too but i haven't seen anything on how to install it yet.

www.autogauge.com.tw

dunno if they have this in the states, these retail here for about $40, but I got it 2nd hand for $20

I know that Autometer gets subcontracted to these guys in taiwan, browse around for autometer gauges

I don't have any pics of mine but I bought it from Summit who actually also manufactures it. They're selling it for $32.95

The best way to avoid blowing a fuse is to disconnect the battery before doing any electrical work.
