I know this is more than likely alternator related, but its a brand new alternator that i just put on because the old did the exact same thing. Squeals on start up and voltage drops to about 12.2 and sometimes lower. If i turn accesories off usually squealing goes away or gets quiter but will come back for a while longer. all belts are brand new and alternator is brand new, is there something else that could be causing this?

Apart from double checking the belt tension, I would check the waterpump pulley. DSMers have a habit of putting it on backwards. Good luck--Jon

You could either be tightening your belts to tight or to loose. Does your power steering work because that could cause drag also.
Good luck
