hey guys need some help here. i have a 98 gst automatic. i bought the car from a previous owner that told me he never had a problem out of the car......we all beeen there before. 3 weeks after i had the car i had to replace the alternator. the issue now is sometimes while driving around the battery/brake light will come on and the voltage will drop to 11.4. so far it hasnt dropped any lower. if you keep driving after this happens the light will go off and the volts will start to go back up and reach 13.2-13.4volts. some days its more often some days not at all. all help and thoughts are greatly appreciated :hellyeah:

You might want to check if the belt isn't worn and slipping. Either tighten it some more, or use a bit of belt dressing.
the belt is a brand new gatorback belt as far as tension goes it may have a 1/8 to 1/4 inch if movement when you push down on it

Remove the battery cables both ends and clean them with a wire brush. Then tighten securely. Also know that autostores are notorious for selling alts that are a piece of crap (rebuilts). And their testers are worthless.

the ends are brand new as well and the ends are clean and free of corresion and the battery is clean as well. the car doesnt have a heat sheild on the manifold so could the heat fry the alternator in this short period of time?

the alt is clean no drips on it im thinkin its the heat from the turbo these 90 degree days dont help with heat either i think im gonna take the alternator off monday and take it to a place that rebuilds them and have them test to see if its goin bad or there is a problem with the car itself. any ideas in the mean time are greatly appreciated
