okay to start out i had a VIS carbon fiber hood liked everything about it but it did fade and also I believed it warped from the heat cause I seen circles all over the hood the size of quarters.

Im looking to order another hood I seen VIS and Seibon OEM carbon fiber hoods on ebay for 450 shipped. I was planning to go with the Seibon my only concern is its GRADE A compared to VIS which was GRADE AA. does that make any difference? or are all seibon hoods grade A?

I'm pretty sure they are the same and unless you are super anal about your hood and wax it weekly they will all fade. It's just the gel clearcoat they use.

Honestly to save you money if the hood isn't cracked or anything I suggest taking it to a body shop and having them sand it down and reclear it with automotive clearcoat that they use on paint. A lot of members do this and it lasts sooo much longer.

Mitsubishi Eclipse 95-99 2dr OEM ViS Carbon Fiber Hood [95MTECL2DOE-010C] - $342.00

That is where I got my carbon fiber hood for my 3rd gen before I sold it, that link is to a 2nd gen OEM carbon fiber hood by VIS (My 3rd gen had a VIS and it never faded/cracked/warped or gave me any other problems and looked amazing)

"ViS Grade A Carbon Fiber Hoods are "Ultra UV Protected" which prevents them from fading for years. This extra coating helps to prevent discoloration that is common on lesser quality Hoods. ViS is one of the only manufacturers that provide ultraviolet protection to keep your Hood just as shiny and vibrant as the day you bought it."

If you bought the last one off of Ebay are you sure it was VIS? Look under the hood, there should be like a small plaque engraved with the VIS logo.

Yeah fitment was perfect, I didnt even need hoodpins with my VIS.. it is cracked stupid mistake I did not closing it all the way before pulling out of autozone :ohdamn: but yeah when I got the car from Miami it came with the carbon fiber hood and it kinda looks like the hood has been in a hail storm with all the circles but I think its just warpage from the engine bay temps....there is an authentic VIS badge on the underside.... I'm really leaning toward Seibon I just wasnt sure the difference between the grades?
