Just for all of you paranoid freaks out there I wasn't going to steal any cars and change any VIN tags on them to make a buck.

Just the contrary, but with the response I've been getting, it WOULD be a waste of a thread to explain to all of you my intentions.

I own several DSMs. My 99 GSX was totalled by my little brother when he took it out driving without my permission... i moved most all of my stuff over to my 95 Talon TSI AWD and have parted the poor GSX now.

The Talon looks just like a 99 GSX (i love the GSX body!) and I would love to put my 99 GSX VIN onto my 95 Talon along with my plates... that way when I get pulled over the cops dont aways ask me "so what kind of car is this?" with the idea that I swapped plates and was tryin to steal it or sumin. I've been given lots of hell over that and I have been pulled over 4 or 5 times and questioned for like an hour and my car searched because your adverage cop has no idea that Talon are DSMs just like Eclipses and thy think Im tryin to pull sumin.

So if ne one has info on how to do the VIN# swap and if you dont want to let it public PM me, or leave a post but I sure would like to find out whats involved.

It's pretty simple.... if you had good intentions or good reason you wouldn't have to be so secret about it. How do you know it would be a waste. Who's to say you don't have a good idea/reason (Yea right ) and if you did who's to say it may inspire others to do the same We come here to SHARE idea's so it wouldn't be a waste. So care to share?????

To change a VIN, you have to get a new one assigned by your state, usually through your highway patrol.

Other means are illegal. Felony illegal.

And bad luck at trying _another_ thread about the same goddamned thing.
