I just got a quote to get my exhaust done on my 1G for 2.5" to the flex pipe and 3" from the flex pipe back to a magnaflow 3" in and out with no cat or resonators and I was wondering if anyone is running the same thing or something very similar to it so I can get an idea of how loud it is to decide if I wanna add a resonator onto it. Thank you! O, and my quote for my exhaust is $300 for everything and that includes getting my dump tube extended as well :hellyeah:

This is a FULL 3" with a magnaflow muffler. The almost stock looking one. External gate on an fp3052 with tial 44.....
It wasnt too bad for normal driving. You could tell there was an exhaust on it, but nothing crazy. If you're trying to evade cops, then I would suggest throwing on a resonator.

Define "loud". My old white car is alot quieter than my current DSM. There are so many factors that affect loudness. I see you're from California, and its tough being out there and having a modded car. So I can imagine you dont want it to be loud at all.

This year I built an electric cutout that replaces my test pipe. But here in NY, nobody ever checks my car for anything, and I dont get "profiled". So I dont care about being loud.

The magnaflow muffler with a resonator is actually pretty quiet. I didnt have a resonator, but I've seen the exact same setup with one, and it was surprisingly quiet. You could still tell there was a performance exhaust on it of some sort.

My suggestion is to throw in a good resonator with a magnaflow and you should be OK.

Lol I'm not extremely worried about the loudness, usually you only get rolled if you have a flashy exhaust here like an HKS(my poor GSX). This may sound stupid as hell, but I want to sort of be able to hear my turbo spool down in my exhaust, and I'm very excited to see the power gains I'm going to get. As long as my exhaust isn't raspy, I'm not worried about it. I know turbo'ed cars exhausts aren't usually extremely loud because of the lower compression motor.

The only time you'll hear a turbo spool down in your exhaust is when you have a HUGE exhaust like an HKS, and its straight thru without a catalytic converter or resonator. Or if you run an open downpipe or a cutout of some sort.

A nice quiet exhaust won't really do that.

So if you're not worried about it, 3" all the way back, no resonator or cats and a nice free flowing exhaust and you'll be good.

Ya all your hear with my GSX is pure snail, even the o2 housing is 3" undivided and all the resonators etc were removed and replaced with 3" piping and it has a HKS Carbon Ti muffler. Ya I'm gonna see how it is without the resonator on the 1G, if it is too loud I'll add one. I'm also getting my stock cat flanged for the exhaust.
