[VIDEO] Engine noise please help

So after my new transmission install took this out for a drive and then this noise started to happen. When I first bought it cylinder 3 was at like 70psi when doing a compression test.

A buddy of mine said this might be a rod or bearing issue.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

balance shaft belt is broken. it the engine really rough at idle and through the rpm range. plus you might wanna do something adout that 70psi compression test. do a leak down test directs you to why you have 70 psi in comp test

Tough to hear, does it sound like someone banging on the head with a hammer? Spun rod bearing, wrist pin, clutch noise, tran noise. Could be anything, pull plugs out do comp test again, try bringing pistons to TDC and push down on them see if they clunk.

That slight stumble is probably due to cyl 3 being so low. Leakdown time for that one.

As for your noise, check the oil pan for shavings, I also agree this balance shaft related.

easy test to check to see if it is the bearings is do a cylinder cancel test pull the injector clips or the spark plugs one at a time better to do it with cutting fuel and not just spark to minimize the risk of damaging your cat

i know but most stock dsms have loads of miles sill running the stock cat any chance i can give him to reduce wear and help diagnose his problem is a plus for me.

It sounds like its coming from the valve cover but its hard to target for sure.

Balance shaft belt is what you think it is for sure?

then if you think its from the VC it takes 5 min to pull the VC and check. sound travels and any bottom end sound can sound as if it is coming from the head... get a stethoscope if it will help you put it on the four corners or the motor two top and two bottom if you can ant try to isolate the noise. i would come help but im in buckeye and i would have too charge you if i had to do this in person.
