I was wondering if anybody had ventshades on their 1G, and what they think about them. I am mostly wondering if it helps cut down on the wind noise when the windows are down. I'm not the biggest fan of them, but the noise from the wind cuttting the b pillar is bad. My AC doesn't work right now(condensor core is bad) so the windows are down all the time. I am thinking about pulling the AC system out, but if ventshades don't cut the noise down I'll end up putting a condensor core in it to make long freeway drives more bearable. Thanks for the feedback!!

yes, they do cut down noise, but its not that great when you roll the window all the way down, it mostly just helps when you have the windows cracked a couple of inches. I know a few people have them on their cars, like devilish- I believe.

They work best when the window is just opened alittle. For example, when its raining a little, you can open the window a little get some cooler fresh air in the car, without getting wet. Same for when its not raining, you get air, but reduced wind noise and less air blowing around the inside of the car.

Yeah, I'm not crazy about the way they look....definitely function over form. It's just that the wind noise is so obnoxious, and my daughter always complains how windy it is in the backseat. I drive my Lumina with the windows down and it seems like its soooo quite compared to the Talon. Thanks everybody for the input!

If you want to play around, get some 3/8" fuel line and some duct tape. Try putting a rib along the edge of the windshield. Try a rib along the edge of the hood. Try one on the front of the window frame, going up about six inches past the upper elbow of the frame. You'll be amazed how much difference a few subtle areas will make.
Wolf products -one of the larger car cover and accessory manufacturers of the late seventies and early eighties- used to make strakes just for this sort of application. I'd put a pair on the hood edges of my 510, and suddenly the side windows would stay completely dry in the rain.
These were where the idea came from (they even look like the same part, they were molded in urethane):

I got 'em, I like 'em.

They mostly help when the window is down just a bit. Had I still been smoking when I got my dsm I would LOVE them, my aunt has them on hers and she smokes, she says its great to smoke while driving in the rain and not get soaked. Just make sure you use a decent double-sided tape for it. When I re-paint my car I might try painting those to match... hopefully it will look decent.
