This is on a 97 GSX. Recently I purchased a Greddy Type-RS BOV with upper intercooler piping. I also purchased an Apexi SAFC II. For the first time I ran this setup (also have injen intake on it) I ran it so the BOV recalculated. Then one night I was going over my engine chcking the coolant level, oil, and all that stuff. I went to put on the piece for the BOV to vent into the atmosphere. I plugged the intake and it worked?! Now this is what really has me thinking. I ran it and it runs just as good venting as it did recirculated. I figured that wasnt right. So I did about 2 hours of searching last night. I found most people saying that venting is bad, recirculated it. I understand that it helps turbo spool, and it can cause the engine to run rich and stall out, but it works fine on my car maybe a little bit faster spool but nothing major. Maybe it has to do with it being an auto tranny instead of manual? BTW the SAFC II is just monitoring the engine right now, I am in the middle of buying new pump, reg, injectors and all that good stuff so I have not really played with SAFC b/c I know it wont do that much since my fuels system is factory as of now. I am using a factory MAS and MAF, I planned on buying the GM MAS and MAFT but I dont know now. If somebody could help me I would really appreciate it, I am kind of stuck on this one.
