Vent BOV

Ah I was like you... search.... LOL we can't say that anymore. Will basically it locates the maf sensor after the bov so when you vent, all the air that is measured won't fool the maf. If air is missing think of it as the car won't be able to go because it's missing some air, it's not %100 there.
Like seen here. Notice the bov is located after the maf before going into the intake mani.

The maf already knows that some air will be lost/ vent before entering the intake manifold. It tells the car that it's okay that it has all the air it needs to go.
It's beneficial if you have a good amount of mods but if you don't, it isn't nessecary, more of a cosmetic then performance for little mods.

You probably read this already!

yes you need GM maf and MAFT or dsm link. mafs are cheap and maft is like 150-200 i think. it also helps tune up to 550ccs? i cant remember but it does have a little tuning abilities make your car run rich or lean ect.

My 2G is pretty much stock, I just have the cone filter, spark plugs and wires aftermarket.

When I put the cone filter on, the sound went from barely (if even) noticeable to quite loud. Not as much as a vented BOV, but VERY noticeable.

Yeah, I have some mods on my car and the stock bov sounds nice but it's really messed up. I have a HKS on the way and I've heard they are pretty quiet recirced but I'm just gonna recirc. I have other things that need to be done before I put a bunch of money into venting my bov.

i have the hks ssqv recirculated and its sounds more aggressive than it did when it was vented,i like the recirculated thing better plus going recirculated your car wont bog unless going with speed density than you can vent all you want but id go with recirculated if your looking for the sound and not so much bogging down your car when you shift, but agian its up to you what u want

You'll need a GM MAF + MAFT or ECMLink. Another route you could go is to run speed density via ECMLink v3. You should be focused on actual mods instead of a sound not to mention you'll need hard IC piping to install the MAF.

When you get a new BOV, SSQV sounds like crap IMHO, Greddy BOVs leak a lot (not sure about the S model), NGR knockoffs seem to be good, TiAL is the best one you can get.

I recently just went speed density and on my new setup I'm unable to recirculate since my intake doesn't have a provision. I'm actually wishing I could recirculate it at times as it gets annoying to hear it constantly. Not as annoying as a purposed exhaust leak at max boost however...

Well this is good to hear since I will be reculating.

Thanks for the info on parts and I am focusing on my cars performance first btw. I also didn't know I would need hard ic piping. Yeah I've read a lot about the bovs. I like the hks and I got a good deal on one. By purposed exhaust leak do you mean o2 dump to atomosphere?
