Valve cover paint

Looking to paint my valve cover. Just wondering what route I should go. Is it worth doing it myself and if so what will I need? Or am I better off having it professionally done and if I go that route what am I looking to spend having it done professionally?

If you want it done and want it to last, Id recommend looking into getting it powercoated professional. Thats how I would have it done. Holds up better to heat then paint but cost a little more. Also its more durable.

I just found a really good post on here that explained exactly what I need and how much it will cost if I do it myself. For 20$ I'm going to try it on a junkyard unit and if it comes out good then I will use it. Haha if not then I need to find a good paint shop

I painted mine with silver VHT over 2 years ago and it still looks good.

Mines painted with VHT and it look amazing after just around 6 months. Looks like it'll hold up for a while.

I did mine with VHT. Its doing ok. I have done alot of under hood work since and it still looks decent.

VHT paint has held up extremely well for me also. The most important thing is stripping all the paint off sanding, etching primer, filler primer, sanding, then paint. I also like to use neoprene washers underneath the VC bolts to prevent damage to the paint.
