valve cover noise

alright guy's yesterday i was out driving around and my car started to sound like a tire was rubing a wheel well. i drove it a little more got out wasn't that wen't home, had some one rev it a little and it's a plinking noise not the normal, worse in the valve cover....

it idel's about 5-600, and when you tap the gas lightly that's when it does it. more commen at 2000 rpm's. i think im gonna have to pull the valve cover off for a peak in side. any idea's of what i might find? also there's no cel light......

not to second guess you but I'd double check to make sure it is in fact under the valve cover. I've had and heard many engine noises and most of them have been on the pulleys, especially if the engine is still running normal. and good luck if it's under the valve cover

Yeah i would say make sure its not lifter tick or Injector Duty Cycle first.

im preety sure it was under the valve cover, but i pray it isn't bad...ive had the normal lifter tick but this is 3 time's lowder then that... almost like a nut or something is flipping around.. i hope not..

while the car is idling take off the oil cap and check to see if you cans see anything thats going on in the valvetraine.Do the same turned off.Use a stethoscope to pinpoint the source of the noise so if you do take the valve cover off you know where to try to locate your problem.

Sound's good to me i'll try that, my mom's a nurse so ill use her's. Have you heard of using a 2 by 4 block? I have but never tried it...

It ideal's low.. Then if your sitting there and rev it will do it then the rpm's will drop fast......My friend think's a penny might have fallen in there for some reason.. WTF

a penny??? i don't think that would make a constant clicking noise... I would imagine a penny in there would make noises that would make you have to change your pants...
but hey... never know... If there is one in there... keep it, as it is a lucky penny, for it did not f your motor over yet

Its possible for the baffles on the under-side of the cover to come loose, not real common though. You'll never know until you pull that thing off, get to work!

alright i pulled the valve cover no penny's nothing, im buffaloed on this one guy's.
i think i might pull the oil pan to. ...before i do that any other idea's.. should i try some kinda cleaner? maybe my lifter tick just got real bad....

WTF is injector duty. pulled the plug's two were rich two were normal.could they make a funny noise if they were going bad? would knock throw a cel light?

I was also thinking maybe im getting valve tap or stick, does anyone think that sound's logical.. If so what should i be looking for, and how do i fix this (cleaner?)... thank's ~blaise
