You were the only one being disrespectful. Now you have wasted my time by posting that useless retort. Just let it go and everything will be ok. I promise.

Don't you love trees? Don't do it save the trees, be one with your environment.

Alright enough with the hippy stuff. You don't need a block off plate for a 2G EGR, . Just disconnect the vac lines going to it and it will automatically shut and act as a plate internally in the valve. As who ever said disconnecting the EGR will give a CEL thats wrong. I have all my vac lines out and plugged and I have no CEL. You will need to leave those sensors that had vac lines going to them hooked otherwise ,yes you will get a CEL.

I, said you will get a cel without the egr working, because it is a FACT!!!......any vehicle with obd2 (all gen 2) by FEDERAL LAW has to have a way to self test all emissions devices on the vehicle......you WILL get a cel, just because you have'nt yet don't mean that you won't..... the ecu only tests the egr system under certain exact cicumstances, and you probably just have'nt met those circumstances yet, what do you suppose the gen 2 has a map sensor for when the gen one does'nt???.......one reason only, and guess what that reason is??? to test engine vacuum when the egr valve is commanded to the "on" state to make sure there is a corresponding vacuum drop in the manifold to make sure the egr is actually working properly........end of story,......dont spread misinformation if your not sure it only causes problems for people.......remember like i said just because you have'nt gotten a cel YET don't mean that you won't............. :dsm:

so 2g's could use the egr blockoff plate? I'm still not quite sure where it goes. I see a wastegate looking thing on the left side of the intake towards the bottom, so I guess I have to take that off right? and then replace it with the blockoff plate? BTW I get my cel after 2 minutes of running my car after freshly hooking my battery up and I just have all my vac lines plugged, even that one that goes to the charcol canister.

Yea but did you ever try pressurizing the system with that method to check for boost leaks? I did and it won't pressurize then. You need the plate if you want to ever use a leak tester again. BTW I have no CEL either and as long as all the sensors are plugged in then I shouldn't get one. I got rid of them to clean up the engine bay as well. :thumb:

Yes that is correct. Just pull all the lines completely out of the car and take the charcole canister out as well. Make sure all your sensors remain plugged in and cap off the nipples on the throttle body.

thats strange cuz i keep getting that bad egr valve code but all my sensors are plugged up. for the longest time I had my IAC unplugged because it kept killing my car while i was driving and not letting it start, and that was like back in sept of last year. But today I hooked it up again and drove around for 30min and it works fine...I still get the CEL :( All I need is the EGR block off...

all my vacuum lines are removed, egr blocked off, canister removed and i dont have a cel, you wont get one on a 1g...i did all this stuff to clean up the bay a little

How did you remove the battery tray to reach the charcoal canister? I found there were two bolts for the tray's that look unreachable from above. Do I have to get under the car to get at this bolts?

you can get them from above, remove the battery and stick your hand down there with a wratchet

I did the whole thing this weekend (no CELs either, and I have a 2g!).
Just use a long extension. Mine was about 12" long. Then the way I got to the lower bolts for the battery tray support bracket is by unbuckling the EVAP canister from its little strap (you'll know what I mean when you see it) and moving all that garbage out of the way so I could get my ratchet in there.
If you're removing your EVAP system: The taboo site doesn't tell you to cap off the hard line coming through the firewall that goes into the charcoal canister, but common sense dictates. Your gas would evaporate out of your tank in a matter of days, combined with gas smell it's not pleasant.

Also remember to put cable ties on the vacuum caps on your throttle body if you're going to be running without the vacuum hookups.. Good thing I had some extra because all 3 of them jumped off under boost. :D

Egr is blocked automatically when you go WOT. Among other things it also helps reduce knock during part throttle, which is when it opens anyway. Bad idea to block it off.

My EGR was inoperable when I bught my car. I got the vac lines with it but I do not now where they go. I know the thermovalve, EGR and TB nipples are involved. I would appreciate someone with their system intact to help me get mine operating agan! I believe the hoses on my '93 have yelow stripes and green/blue ones. Anyone help? Mark
PS: The taboo site does not have enough detail. I believe the lines from the thermovalve split with one going to the EGR and one to the TB. Same with the other line from the thermovalve, one to EGGR and one to TB. It's the specific locations I need. Please, soeone?

I'm more worried about WOT knock than part throttle knock. Part throttle knock isn't going to blow your engine up. No EGR here.

Look into what EGR does.

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing to waste. Or something.

yeah i read that before i blocked mine off....on a daily driver, i would probably keep my egr, but on my talon, ^^ like he said, i dont care about part throttle knock (who drives at part throttle anyway? :p ) I dont like those gasses heating up my intake manifold and shooting soot and carbon in there either...i know this could be argued all day kinda like the TB coolant lines but im keeping mine blocked off....my 2g however still has the egr

I bypassed my FPS with no problems whatsoever. I have a 255lph tho so that would explain the easy transition
