Temecula,
Anyone here eliminate their vac lines, besides the 2-3 needed ones? Did the car run smoother or did it run worse? Just thinking about doing this.

lots of people have .. I personally didn't remove them because of emissions. I heard they might give you a little power gain, but I also heard you won't gain anything.

I didnt think you would gain anything from it. I just want to clean up the engine bay up a little and want to make sure it wont hurt my performance.

removing emissions vac lines wont give you any power, but it lessens the chance of having a boost leak from those old dryed out vaccum lines. If you don't want your emissions you can block off the EGR, remove the charcoal canister from under the battery and eliminate all the extra hoses.

I blocked off my egr and removed most of the vacuum lines because I was so tired of finding boost leaks that I vowed to get rid of anything that I could that might be leaking air. I didn't expect any performance benefits besides less chance of a boost leak, and that's what I got.

Hey guys, I was just wondering if there was any documentation on this procedure? Something that will tell you the 2-3 lines that you need. I'm going to order the EGR block off for $15, is there anything else I can purchase, to clean up the engine bay anymore?

Thanks for the space!

how many different ways are there to block off an EGR? LOL

the taboo site just gives a diagram, with no explanation on anything except the function of the fpr solenoid.

i'd assume that everyone is going to throw a CEL if they do this. In my truck, i had to wire a resistor inline in front of the connection harness to the EGR valve to get rid of the CEL. Of course my truck is different than this, but they are both made by chrysler (before it was daimler chrysler) and they are both OBD1.

I have never recieved a CEL from blocking off the EGR. The EGR system is vacuum operated so I am not sure how that would even throw a CEL light. Its been a long time since I removed the charcoal canister. Is there a connector on that for the harness? I hate forgetting simple things.

can someone here get a picture showing where the egr valve is located at so i can get some kind of idea about how to go with cleaning out the carbon???

it would be appricated :thumb:

a 2g will have a cel without the egr system.......btw there is really no noticeable power increase by removing the egr system............ :dsm:

The egr is located about 1/2 way up the #4 cylinder runner on the intake manifold... it looks like a little wastegate (basically what it is...) just remove your battery and you'll see it there.

I took out all my EGR and emmissions stuff....did the block off, took out my carcoal thingy and removed all the lines...i dont have a check engine light. I dont think the computer has a way to keep the EGR stuff in check. One thing i like is that theres a bunch less places to check for boost/vac leaks. :thumb:

All my emissions vacuum lines are gone, along with the charcoal canister, the EGR, and the FIAV in the throttle body. No CELs.

Oh, wait. I have DSMlink. Nevermind. :D

As for power gains? Nah. I did it for more room to work in, less exhaust crud gumming up the works in my throttle body and intake manifold, and less places to develop a boost leak.

why in the world would you buy a egr block off.

all my vacuum lines are removed, egr blocked off, canister removed and i dont have a cel, you wont get one on a 1g...i did all this stuff to clean up the bay a little

does anyone have it for the 2g??? i made my own block off plate for the egr. i'm trying to get rid of some of my vacuum hoses. any help would be fine

Probably because he doesn't have one and can't make one easily.
That's usually the reason people buy things.

Does anyone have what? What is "it"? If you're talking about the block-off, here's all you need. ( or the way I did it )

1. Go to parts store and pick up "Mr. Gasket (or whomever)" sbc fuel pump block off plate. (While here go ahead and pick up a couple new bolts to mount the plate and some gasket material)
2. Dremel into shape...if you want.
3. Drill two holes where needed.
4. Mount to intake.

If you want the diagram for the procedure: http://www.taboospeedshop.com/emissions1.htm

the CEL would be because the computer detects a problem with the EGR. i remember that there is a vfaq that tells you how to convert a california model to a faderal model by sodering in a resistor someware.
all of the 94 models were california models, so does any one know if you can do this mod on a 94, or did they change the ecu so you cant
