I keep hearing that it cant be done, but I want to keep my oem seat belts and replace the seats with bucket/racing seats without using a harness... has anyone done this?

right now I have the Stock tan leather seats but I'm working on a all black interior and instead of just getting black oem seats I'm looking at getting buckets seats in black.

Can certainly be done. Friend had Sparco's in his spyder with stock belts and another friend had Tenzo's with stock belts. The Tenzo's were a tight squeeze to be able to latch the belt, but it latched firmly.

I have Sparco Torinos in my '99. It is a tiny bit more work to get it latched and getting the belt fully retracted. But it otherwise works fine.

I found a pair on ebay for 45 plus 30 shipping..
