Hi I have been looking at some options for my talon when I get it back up and running. I already have an Evo3 16g on it. Im curious how the Evo maf and 550 mod works. I have read up on it and it seems that its all plug and play no tuning required. Is this true? My other option was to just run the GM Maf and Maft. Im not looking to do a ton to the talon because im going to be heading out for the army and am considering an evo 8 when I return. This is why I was considering the Evo maf and 550s but I wanted some other opinions first.

You can get close with evo 8 injectors and an evo 8 maf. I ran that before getting my evo ecu and tuning it out.

IIRC the maf has 20% more airflow, the injectors are 20% larger.

Thats pretty much what I wanted to know LOL. Ive heard with just the 550s and evo maf your safe upto around 18 to 20 PSI. Im kinda curious if this is true as well. Also ive see pig tales made for the evo maf to dsm plug will I for sure need one or are they fairly easy to hard wire in?

It is not completely plug and play. If you purchase an adapter hardness you are one step closer to it being a plug in system, but the Evo MAS runs more lean and you need tuning software to compensate for that. Personally I hate tuning with a GM MAF, I rather go with an EVO MAS or Speed Density. The glory of a MAS system is that the tune doesn't change much with the changing of the weather.

Heres a lot of good info on running an EVO 8 MAS:

I currently run one in my 1g, great MAS system, really easy to tune with. I am currently running Ecmlink v3 to compensate for the MAS.

I think I have it all now. I may end up going with the GM MAF and MAF-T im more familiar with it. Im not looking to drop a load of money into it as I said im looking at some evo 8s when I get done with all of my crap for the army.
