using 2g mas on 1g with 4inch intake

my friend told me that when he used a 4inch intake with a 2g mas he had stalling issues wen coming to a stop. That with all that space in there it would suck some of the air out of the intake without drawing past the mas nd stall. He then switched to a 3inch intake pipe and it fixed the problem. Has anyone ever experienced this?? Im going to be running a 2g mas on a holset hx40 which is a 4inch inlet so i was trying to figure out if i could go 4inch or have to make a 3inch with reducer couplers to go on the turbo?

Did he try to tape the MAF to the snorkel? Use good couplers with good clamps and you should be fine.
