Some of you may have read my other thread where i was in third last night and my trans just let go and toasted 3rd and 4th gears ( the rest work and so does the diff)

Well, I've emailed and called every tranny vendor that i know of and no one has a 2g FWD ready to ship in time for me to start my new job

My question is, is this something that starts to happen steadily at certain HP levels or amount of miles on the trans, or was mine maybe just beaten down and finally let go? I'm going to send the blown one off for a rebuild once i get another one in and get some money together. I just don't want the exact same thing to happen to this the used replacement. I mean, i swear I've put down way more power than i was when this one blew and i wasn't even hard shifting, i just rolled on in third.

Oh well, opinions please on a used tranny for now? I'd like it to at least last through my tune and get me to and from work until i can have my jacks "premium build" tranny done and ready to swap

The FWD trannies are pretty weak. If you want a tranny you never have to worry about, I would highly recommend finding a 2G AWD tranny and have that one rebuilt to work in your FWD. They have more gear options and are far less likely to break anything than the FWD units.
