I'm finally upgrading my turbo from a 14b to a 20g!! I have a bunch of other goodies such as an FP air intake and exhaust manifold and BC 272's with springs and retainers going in aswell since it seems that all of those parts would over run a 14b or so I've read. I'm just curious if I need to do anything else while or before adding these upgrades. All my maintenance is up to par and I still need a good tune but any input would be awesome!!!
Also I'm kind of wondering how much of a difference I'll see after adding these parts if anyone has a or come from a similar setup? :hellyeah:

you will see a big differencs i have a 20g i love it. you should see around 20psi or more by 4000rpm
ARP head studs would be a good idea if you dont have them already

also some 3g revised lifters would be a good idea.. if you dont want lifter tick

Would I be ok running around 18psi without ARPs until I come up with some cash for a new HG and ARPs?

you should be but i cant promise cause you cant tell what condition your head gasket is until you really look at it off the car. i would deff check the the tourqe specs on your head bolts now and just give them an extra bit. just to be safe. nothing more than 2-3 lbs./ft. thats my opinion

2 or 3 lbs wont even turn the bolt. if they are still torqued to spec.to be safe i think 16psi would be safe especially if you have never changed them before. who know how old they are. better safe than sorry. ive stretched stock head bolts at 20 psi. and i was only at 20psi for 2 pulls so 18 might be too much

that is true. i would have to agree with you on that point. but i deff would run it on the safer side of it.

You didn't mention what if anything you are tuning with. I think that should be addressed before anything else.
Those parts will give you alot of extra power but unless you can tune them right you won't get the full potential out of them.

I have Dsmlink V2 and an LC1 wideband to tune with :thumb: I think you guys are right to play it safe. 16psi should keep me happy until I can come up with the money for HG and ARP's. I bet 16psi on a 20g still feels crazy compared to the 20psi I'm running on my 14b at the moment.
