Ok so I have a 95 tsi FWD auto and I was wondering what is the first thing to start with when upgrading it to run better/quicker. It is completely stock and just want to make it a bit faster and not cause major problems. I was looking into putting the 14b turbo or maybe a 16g what is needed before hand in doing this and where could I get them for the lowest price. THanks

The turbo is rarely at the top of my list to tell people to upgrade. The first thing you should do is make the necessary mods so that you can run more boost on your existing turbo, IMHO. A larger exhaust is a great start. How much boost are you running now? How much do you want to run? Do you have a boost controller? Is your ECU an EPROM? What octane fuel do you have available? You can usually have a lot more fun with the car by just doing an injector and fuelpump upgrade, so you can safely turn the boost up.
There is a 2G upgrade path here on the site if you do a search.

thanks for the response ill search for that thread

If you just got the car the most important thing is always maintenance.. Change your plugs, all fluids and your wires if need be. Also check your belts and ECU for wear.

You have a small amount of play that you can raise the boost safely but don't push it without other free mods. Switch to a 1g intake manifold if you can as well as a 1g t/b. Intake and exhaust will prove to be a big boost for even your T25.

After this there is more you can do but your options vary according to your goals and budget.

^ +1. A couple of things that would also be beneficial to check:
1. engine compression
2. timing belt wear and when it was last replaced
3. boost leak test
4. crank endplay (hopefully this turns out well for you)

Even proper maintenance alone will help it "run better/quicker". Once you're confident on the car's condition, check the tech guides on how to upgrade and the only thing that will hold you back is your budget.

Run a 1g manifold on a 2g head? Bad ju ju. Try running a port matched 1g TB but dont try putting the 1g IM onto a 2g head. There are several threads on why NOT to do this.

No no no Kolby, this guy has "many builds under his belt", I think he knows what he's talking about.

OP, I hope you see my sarcasm in this, like Kolby said, don't do it. Do a fuel pump rewire, get a 14b, and turn the boost up....AFTER you change your timing belt and balance shaft belt. And when you're done putting the 14b on do a boost leak test, then go have fun.
