Well the motor is nearly finished.

So far Ive drilled/tapped the block for oil squirters and drilled the extra coolant passages in the block. I added Evo oil squirters because they seem to be a little lower profile and clear the crank better.

Had the block cleaned and checked and drilled to .20 over to match the pistons. A couple quick coats of low gloss black paint finishes the block off. Yes, went with a balance shaft delete kit on this motor. I had the rotating assembly balanced and turned the balance shaft bearings 180degrees to block off the oil passages for the balance shafts and added the Mirage stubby shaft.

The head I had checked, cleaned and decked flat. I installed Comp Cams 101300 which seem to be a great cam for a 2.4 liter and my build and goals (this motor should pull like a beast down low and in the mid range).

For a 2.4 hybrid build you either need adjustable cam gears (expensive) or just call your local mitsubishi dealership and get the gears and timing belt for a '94 DOHC 2.4 Galant.

I went with an Evo exhaust manifold gasket (4 layer steel) and coated it with copper gasket sealant to ensure a great seal.

I went with the stock metal intake gasket and again coated it with copper gasket sealant.

I went with a Cometic (87mm bore ; .051" thickness) MLS head gasket. Used copper gasket sealant to assure a good seal able to hold lots of boost.

ARP studs torqued to 80 ftlbs keep the head and block joined.

I added a new Topline water pump. I also went with Toplines 1.7 turbo mirage high flow oil pump housing; for the lack of balance shafts on that motor. (dont forget the grey silicone sealant to finish everything off)
