Looks awesome! I would spend some more time getting the fiberglass nice and smooth. It helps a lot to use matte paint to cover up imperfections since it does not reflect as much.
Good work
Anton

I would sand that down with a 500 grit, then wet sand the hell out of it, other then that good work.

Maybe use some textured paint or something with a little less gloss? Other than that- awesome work.

Hey thats really cool, im in the planning phase for mine!
just got a few questions (i hope you dont mind?)

1)Is that a doulbe din Screen? if not what did it take to get it to fit?

2)what is the screen resolution witht he screen? I mean it looks like it is just the size of a double din... did windows (XP?) have any problems with it?

3)What Are you using for GPS (botj software and hardware/antenna) because I cant find any thing good.. especially for Canada..

Thanks!

1. no. It is a 8 in touch screen. I had to cut the consol and the plastic that goes around the hvac and radio dins. Then bondo/marine epoxy. I am not done with this but tired of working on it. Still does not look good enough for me.
2. 800x600 is the res. My screen looks better and 680x400 for XP. Others like the lilliputs look better at the 800x600. My front end software looks great at this res. cause it has no small characters.
3. I am using the earthmate lc-20 gps reciever and a program called iguidance. It has Canada maps :thumb:
The cutting and molding of the screen requires you to take apart the screen and use the plastic case to mold in. This is tedious work and a real pita. I loved it:barf:

I have had pm's left and right about this so there is much intrest. I just changed my setup alittle and redid the consol for the 3rd time this month. It looks better and i will post pics soon. I molded a usb port where the toggle switch was and moved the switch to inside the armrest. Also, using howardfourms and mp3car.com I got my e815 cell phone to work as a modem so my car has wireless internet. It is about dialup speed but it's still pimp. If you are going to try and have interface with your cell phone for any reason(internet, file sharing, ringtones ect.....) I would stay away from Verizon. Verizon takes away lots of features witch you have to hack out. This is very boring and takes a long time to do sometimes. So to date the features my car pc has are: Xm radio, 20 gigs of mp3's, gps, internet, dvd, video making and playback, ability to burn cd's/dvd's at the drop of a hat, and everything that windows can do. If you want the ultimate in car intertainment this is the way to go. The best part is it can cost less then the pioneer indash screen/radio w/gps and can do so much more. My megasquirt came in today and I will soon have it going through this thing too. Forget dragging out the lap to to tune. I can do it with out leaving my car seat.:thumb: Pics soon to come I promise:rocks:

Just what application is this? Is this able to be downloaded from somewhere or is it a custom one?

I like your old install better (the non flip out screen), but I guess that cant be helped due to the 1st gens center console.
I just bought a new dsm as well, and will be swaping my car PC over to the new car soon.. Not looking forward to doing this again ;)

I didnt like the flip out at first but it is very handy. I could mold in a screen in the 1g consol but I like the ease of this application much better.

I got quite a few pm's about my setup so I will try to give you guys the details of what hardware I used.

The MB is a 1.5/gh mini epia
1 gig of pc5300 ddr2 ram
A M1ATX power supply(12 volt power supply with shutdown controller)
120 gig ATA laptop harddrive.
Vroom Zoom 2 Case with two mini fans.

I have a Playstation 3 mini qwerty keyboard, External GPS unit and a few other usb things.

Yes I tune and log with it. I run DSMAP Ems and the palm logger works through the built in com port with a null modem adaptor.

Sam

I have that same gps antenna just an fyi that antenna works good inside the car. I have mine located on my dash and always get reception. I didnt want to risk some idiot cutting it off.
