Hi!
I would like to know if it's safe to unplug the big hose connected to my stock BOV to get the PSHHH song whitout buying a BOV?
Thanks

no, it will cause your car to run like crap. If you want to unhook the hose you need a maft.

Ok, but I already got my BOV it's an RS type BOV, but the flange doesn't fit (the 1st gen one is leager so... doesen't fit) and I founded it a kinda hard to install because the big hose i'm talking about will be connected to what after... and which hoses am I connecting to the litle ''T''...

well anyways my BOV is vented and i love it its crushed too it is amazing so when i race the hondas the only thing they hear when i pass them is"KATSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS" ha the honda boys

so i suggest to block off the pipe on the intake and just vent it to the atmosphere

When I bought my Eclipse, it was vented with an aftermarket bov. I thought it was cool at first but my car would stall all the time when pushed the clutch in. I didn't know at the time it was the cause. I found this site, searched and ordered a stock bov then, recirculated it. Needless to say, the stalling stopped. When I tried to unhooked my stock bov, the car stalled instantly. You can try it if you want but don't say we didn't warn you. Just search around and you'll find a lot of info on this.

So basically you mean that I can unplug the hose without problem? Sorry if I don't get it that fast, i'm a french guy, I don't understand what you mean by ''venting into the atmosphere''...

Venting to the atmosphere or just "venting" for short is running without the pipe that connects the outlet on the BOV to the air intake pipe. The second like I posted earlier has the debate on whether or not it's ok to run your car this way. The decision is yours, BUT most people do recirculate (leave the hose on).

Would you rather have your car make the PSSSSHT sound or have it stutter?

You can put the greddy bov on the 1g flange. Just have to mark the holes on the flange and drill them out. But if you have a stock 1g bov then it will hold almost as much boost as the greddy. And you can take the hose off but besure to block were it goes into your intake pipe. But when you do vent ityou will run rich when you shift and it may die on you sometimes when you change gears or come to a stop. Some people run it fine with out the maft and some dont.

Ok I see. So if I unplug the pipe, should I put something like a tie wrap to seal it or leave it like this whitout risk of breathing sand or dust

Hell if all you want is the sound, just hard pipe your upper intercooler piping and your intake. You can get a lot of the sound (not all) by recirculating through hard pipes...people will think you're venting.

Doesn't tell me if I need to seal it totally...

The answer is don't do it all. Its not good for the performance of the car. If you just want the noise then spend the money and do it properly.

You need a MAFT which is an aftermarket part that allows you to run a different Mass Airflow Sensor which is after the BOV. Search for MAFT and Blowthrough. It is also a very simplistic tuning device. Another option is a standalone engine management but I think thats quite ahead of the game right now.

Now if you feel a strong desire to have your car run sub optimally you can take that tubing off. Yes you do need to completely seal up the hole on the intake or else it will make your car run even worse. I would not recomend this in any way though.

**Cliff notes**
Dont do it.
If you do yes the hole needs to be completely sealed.

I've installed my BOV, I had to drill holes into my Flange so it fits. I give a damn good sound and I sealed the hose with some nice duct tape! Unfortunately, my Idle stays at 2000RPM...

ho I see. Quite simple then. I'll do this tommorow Thanks for the advice!

O, ok... duct tape works for a temporary solution then. HAHA... I used a rag and a clamp to seal mine up once.

Realistically that would probably let more air through than the duct tape. Not only must it be sealed of dirty air it really should be sealed of any air. Otherwise any that makes it in there is unmetered and will lean the car out.

ok i have a greddy type s bov vented no maft i can tack to 7 and let it come down it wont stall its called a priority blow off valve there is a second vacume source but because i dont have a maft i run rich inbetween shifts resulting in a fireball(no cat)

When i first got my car the return tube was sealed up with a 35mm camera film case. You dont really want to use a rag or tape because you take the chance of sucking it down into the turbo, and you dont want that to happen

for a block go to a parts store get an adjustible core/freeze plug if you want to block it its basicly a thick rubber ring between a set of washers with a bolt through the center with a nut on top tighten it it becomes wider it works ive done it they come in lots of sizes be smart about it you dont want to have any thing to small
