I got a 93 Talon DL 1.8 8v SOHC and from what I hear and read, I couldn't even stand up to a granny in a Caddillac. (j/k)

Thought I wouldn't have to mention it, but I am an ameteur. I am more of a Prelude man myself, but when I saw my this talon, I was all for the restoration of it...Thing is, I knew nothing of how slow it was compared to all of the other models...

I was thinking, since I had a 1.8 2wd SOHC, would the swap to a 2.0 2wd DOHC be able to be done with no hassle?

Would more be able to be done with the 2.0 DOHC?

I found a supercharger that would fit on my 93 DL that supposedly adds 35+ horsepower and that is without upgrading the intake and exhaust.

I am basically looking for my questions to be answered and someone that is willing to be a teacher and mentor to me. I am new to trying to tune a DSM as well as any car for that matter...But we all have to start somewhere... I want to feel the pride of putting together a beast with my own to hands and gloat about it...

that "supercharger" is horse shit. Just lettin you know. But yes, the swap is possible, and not TOO complicated.

dude make it look pretty and sell it to some dude buyin a car for his daughter or somethin cause u might not even be able to tangle with civics in that, get a TSI, once i finish this ES im workin on im gonna sell it and get a :talon: TSI AWD.

basically....I like being the underdog. Maybe if I catch another talon guy around here that knows I got a sohc 1.8 talon (when I really got the 2.0 under the hood) tries to challenge me. Then wonders why I kept up and passed him.

Then I will say it is just the shifting I learned from Mark Martin (Nascar racer...Viagra Team).

As for the Supercharger...Says it is electronic and all it does is hook up to the intake...Still Bullshit?

total bullshit

i did a post on Eram.

do a search for electronic supercharger and see what you find

I got another two questions...

1.) Anyone willing to walk me through the parts that I need to be able to make the swap from the 1.8 sohc to the 2.0 dohc?

2.) I thought I was in the money, I saw a lot of parts for the 93 talon but, it is for the 2.0. Is there something bigger/smaller on the 2.0 engines to where I can't fit parts onto my 1.8? Becuase I really wanna work on getting at least a little performance out of my little bitty car...

intake and exhaust is the only thing that can work from a 2.0. u can buy an ignition, underdrive pulley (which are hard to find) and clutch and flywheel for the 1.8l. the rest is basically internal work like boring, porting and polishing....exc
:laser: Cory :laser:

does sound boring... I wish there was more..

As far as the swap goes...is there anything that I should take into consideration before I try it? Or is there any parts that you can thing of that I might need in order to do it?

Or would my best bet me to go to a mechanic to put it in and tell him what parts I need?

in order to put the 2.0 into your 1.8 (which will still only get you into the 16's at best) you'll need the motor, ecu, and wiring harness. probably will need the alternator and power steering pump from the 2.0 as well. but that's still a hell of alot of money and time to gain a whopping 30-40hp.

so if I got the full 2.0 engine, I have nothing to worry about? Or those parts are what I need to grab off a 2.0 without them being attached to the engine?

you will pretty much need to replace everything in your engine bay with the parts from the 2.0 except for the transmission. everything else must go.

and about that guy that sells superchargers for all types of cars... Someone mentioned that the 2.0 has about 40 more horsepower than my 1.8... The supercharger kit only costs 69+ with a money back garuntee...I think...

Would you reccomend I just go that route and have that on it to add the 35 horsepower on my 1.8???

Will make my sig just a little less funnier...

look we've told you a coupe of times not to get the supercharger. they're friggin useless. just electric fans that get in the way of your engine doing its job.

ok....then how do you suppose that I mod up my 1.8? I got nothing under the hood...all stock and not doing sh%t for me... Not to mention *counts with fingers* there are probably only five aftermarket engine parts that are compatible with the 1.8.

I don't want to do all that cutting and molding and hooplah!

id start out with a intake preferably injen from a 2.0l it will go on without any problems. after that get an exhaust with a hi flow cat, preferably 2.5in. thats the size on mine and it works great, it feels like a new car. after u get all this and u still want more id get a act clutch and fidanza flywheel.
