Underdrive pulley

Hey I was wondering what brands people are running for an Underdrive pulley. Also is been difficult to find a 420a one, ones I have found state for 2.0 SOHC neon. I know the lower ends are the same so is this piece able to be used, or are there interference issues with the frame?

I'd recommend doing some reading on what harmonic balancers do and the risks associated with removing them. Some people don't have any problems but for me at least the benifits do not outweigh the risk. If you search through on the forums there are many a thread debating it but in the mean time here is an excellent write-up (albeit for a BMW engine, the physics applys) on engine vibration and the role of the harmonic balancer.

I'm using the aluminum under drive pulleys from MachV.com.....except for the crank pulley. For the crank I'm running a Fluidamper harmonic damper. I'm not that risky, in that the small gain is not worth the possible risk.

I'm only asking cause my OEM pulley had a piece chipped off. Also if there is a pulley that just has alternator grooves because I eliminated A/C and P/S

The 420a is internally balanced and doesn't come with a harmonic balancer. The main thing about the udp on the 420a is to get a Name brand. I have the ebay special on mine and it likes to eat the ac/power steering belt.

For the 420A its one of the bigest gains from a bolt on. No th sohc neon will not work. It may work if your not going to keep ps or ac

I had seen somewhere that someone machined off the a/c power steering grove on the udp to just have the alt belt on it.

Look up unorthadox racing they used to make them and that's what I run. Don't get an eBay one though.

Yeah I have someone looming to sell me one. I have to get my money together to do it
