what kind of gains will i see with a 2.5 inch UICP from the factory rubber one? i made a straight shot from the TB elbow to the intercooler outlet. im expecting better throttle response but is there any other gains i might see?

Your gains have been covered. It's a big improvement!

spool time would be slower with a larger pipe. you two should know this. :|

more solid boost
wtf???

thats like saying exhaust flow would be worse with bigger piping.....the bigger the pipe, the more airflow, the more airflow, the quicker the spool..thanks for the help guys! :thumb:

Spool will largely remain uneffected, the upper IC pipe doesn't really have an effect on anything deterministic of spool.

Power gains totally depend on the setup.

Same answer. It does not effect anything deterministic to spool, at least not unless you have some crazy setup and a stock pipe.

Where can a lower IC pipe be bought? Does Dejon have one, I did not see one in their catalog of parts for my 1G. Mark

id probably just make my own...id buy the elbow off the turbo and make the rest with aluminized piping, but i do think Dejon makes them for 1g's

All I saw at dejon was a lower pipe that is used with their SMIC upgrade which may be something for me down the road. mark

If anyone has replaced the factory air box with and aftermarket filter a.e. K&N, then you would notice that the upper intercooler pipe has been "flattened" to make room for the airbox. The benifit of replacing the u.i. pipe is removing this restriction in the pipe to where there is 2.25" piping all the way through. Lower intercooler piping is 2.25" all the way through so replacing this with another 2.25" pipe would offer little benifit, IMO.

What's up with the tiny outlet elbow? Does the 16G have a larger outlet? I ask this because Bushur has a larger elbow for 16G's but it seems that the buyer is responsible for the rest of the piping. mark

I replaced my UICP and S-pipe w/ a Dejon setup. I had to turn down boost on my MBC because it went from 15psi to 17psi after the install. I noticed more pull from 3.5-5K and the BOV sounds crisper. I didnt notice much spool differences from the swap though.

If you do it make sure you pressure check it after the install. I found 3 leaks.

he doesnt have a 2g.

the best part of replacing the uicp is getting rid of the restrictive stock throttle elbow. Thats what will give you the most gains, also added with replacing the entire pipe. Its a good upgrade if you dont plan on getting a fmic immediately.
