U joints for awd

Where is a good place to buy u joints for a 90 awd. Every parts store i go to they dont offer them. Is this a dealer ship item? Do you guys know if a 2g awd drive shaft is the same as a 1g? I know the carrier bearings are different but didn't know if the drive shafts were the same or not. Thanks for the help.

Have you checked with them online? Autozone, Advasnce Auto and O'Reilly's all have them listed. Bout 9 bucks a piece

Yeah, I have "parts store" u-joints on mine. Bout $9/ea as said

Wow, $9 seems awful cheap. You definitely don't want one exploding. At least make sure they are not the greasable kind with zerks.

Napa sells them,I had to measure them to get mine because there was no listing.

I had Fleetpride get me some while they were shortening my driveshaft. I asked for their good brand with the hardened cross, and no grease fittings, but the douche bags shortened my shaft and put the cheaper ones with zerks in. They were exited to tell me that they saved me $30 and prevented me from waiting for the good ones to come in. This was a couple weeks before the car was ready for the driveshaft anyway. I knew I should have gone to Denny's Driveshafts, but I knew the waiting list there was usually over a month.

Moral of the story: Never go to fleetpride!

Yeah they are, what's wrong with the grease fitting ones as long as you grease them occasionally?
They've been on mine for two years with many launches.
What about every old domestic, they have always had grease fittings?

Most domestics that I've seen use spicer joints with no grease fittings. They make the part weak and more prone to failure. I've never messed with them or experienced it first hand, just something I found out when researching replacement joints on my Vette. I'm not saying they are going to fail, but for peace of mind alone, I would stay away.

This often happens when they fail.

If it were me i would grease them every oil change. I do my ball joints every oil change.

I've also heard there's a right and wrong way to install the u-joints with grease fittings. If you install them where the fitting is under compression there a lot stronger.

Thanks knochgoon24. That's a big help. I will go order them today. I cant believe they dont come up under are cars when you look them up. I am replacing the carrier bearings also is that pretty easy or a pain in the a**.

It's best to do it while you already have stuff apart to do the u-joint.
