 So how much longer is this going to drag out before it gets locked? All i see is just a bunch of repeating stuff. Just lock it, and make sure new people cant post threads till they have read this sticky first. Maybe it will work, in the mean time just use proper spelling.
:thumb:

Honestly, I don't think we are repeating it enough times, if we did, this thread wouldn't be here. Just my 2 cents. :(

This thread reminds me that...

The phaonmneal pweor of the hmuan mnid, aoccdrnig to a rseearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be in the rghit pclae. The rset can be a taotl mses and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

Amzanig huh? Yaeh and I awlyas tghuhot slpeling was ipmorantt.

Oh, please don't punish me for not using the Spell Check on this post. LOL!

I agree with proper grammar, the use of cases, and especially not using stuff tAht iS maD TytE!

If I come across a post that is hard to read, I simply ignore it and move on. I think that is still the best way to acknowledge these types of posts.

Wow! That is too cool! :rocks: I had no trouble reading that!

Regardless of whether or not we can read it, it still sucks to read. Plus, you look like a total moron when you type like that. It's like when people type in all caps.

If you used proper English, I would reply to that. But since you didn't, let me introduce you to 2 things called grammer and punctuation. Please note the corrections in red.

This is the internet, not school. Who cares if someone can't spell? Sounds like someone loses sleep at night over his moderator job.

Oh and it is moderator NOT moderation. Sorry for being anal, but if I can take some time to punch a few extra keys on the keyboard, other people can too! When you type like that, it makes you look like a 7 year old. :toobad:

Perhaps someone has confused the Internet for instant messaging and didn't understand that school was to prepare one for what was expected from them in the real world.

This technical forum is the internet equivalent of someones home. We are all guests of our host. Our host has been kind enough to make their expectations of our behavior clear and we all agree to that by being here.

If you can't or won't live up to those expectations it's time for you to move on or grow up.

Steve

ROFL :tease: this is the most useless thread ive ever seen here. someones spending too much time on the nabr boards. if you guys cant discern what someone is writing because of atrocious spelling thats one thing. bitching about some spelling and capitalization errors is just plain fascist. enjoy your power trips fellas :thumb:

Jesus. How hard is it to grasp the concept that proper spelling and grammar make it easier to read? It's not that much extra effort to make sure you capitalize the first word of a sentence, the word "I," and proper nouns. Not only is it common courtesy to your fellow posters, but it has the added bonus of not making you look like an idiot.
Quit being a lazy bastard and take the time to use proper grammar.

i say if the post contains a blatant amout of internet lingo, then it should be punished.

if its a simple accident in mis-using a word like their instead of theyre, then i say just let it go.

no matter how many people you ban, there will always be the l33t internet abbreviations for everything. i dont like it and think it shows how immature and lazy you are, but at the same time, its like "dude, its just the ####ing internet, chill out". if it really bothers you that much, click the X in the top right corner and get a life.

If people want to type like 7 year olds, I think they should be treated like 7 year olds. I don't know why moderators don't close threads and suspend accounts for bad grammer and poor English. It is part of the rules, just like everything else. It's annoying and rude and it pisses me off everytime I read a damn post where the guy types like a retarded moron.

I see that this thread is divided into 2 groups of people. The first group is the educated, proper English using folks, who are glad that this thread exists. The second group is people who are too lazy and dumb to type decent English on this site and they are the ones who think this thread is useless. :toobad: I can keep going and going and going too... but I won't!

I'll admit that I've been a culprit of the, "u" and "ur" sayings. Not sure what else, but I know I haven't done the, "too" and "to" mistake. Atleast not on purpose. That being said I'll be sure to catch myself in the future, as I can see how people get annoyed by it. :thumb:

I just want to apologize ahead of time for any mistake I might make

Josh

well i can honestly say thay im one of those individuals who have used "u" instead of "you" i remember asking a while back if anyone ehere use diffferent devices to get online. im not sitting in front of a comp all day long so most of the time im using a pda to get on tuners, and you do save time between typing u,you,two,2 and so on i know you guys get my point but i get the mods point also. is there some kind of agreement that can be reached here? when im on the computer and on a pda i think a difference can be seen.

well for one i think this thread needs to come to an end. I fell asleep lastnight at 1, then checked at 8:35 this morning, and there were more post. So here is the thing, use "you" instead of "u", once again everything is getting repeated. :toobad:

and if i find another post after mine that says " well we wouldn't have this if people knew how to spell or type" or I used "u" instead of "you", I'm going to be,!!!!!!!!!!!

dude, after seeing those typos, you're getting banned for sure. haha! just kidding. :tease:

It doesn't take much to use proper spelling and grammar. In fact it takes effort and purpose tO typ3 L1k3 tH15!!oneone1111!!!

Holy crap batman! This thread reminds me of High School. I think both sides should lighten up and get a life. The grammar Nazi's should ease up and not be so anal about spelling, if you stress yourself over this to much you'll die quicker. I mean if you can understand a post - that's what's important. People who type like retards should put more effort into NOT typing like retards, it ain't (ohh crap ain't is not really a word is it?) hard, at least i would think. But thats just my opinion.

Ohh by the way i didn't bother using a spell check. If any of the grammar Nazis feels like correcting my post go ahead. I'm wont get all butt hurt about it :|

Do you honestly think we care that you gonna get mad?
Just incase you're wondering, the answer is "NO"

Ok this was a very useful and intelligent post.

We are trying to promote being grammatically correct when typing explicit.

When you see something that is vulgar, sexually repulsive or otherwise violates the posting policies then you have the option of reporting that just as easily as e-thug-Ebonics.

"This is the internet, chill out!" is a lame excuse for people's laziness and behavior. I assure you that the pro's and con's of communicating any kind of message carry just as much weight on the internet as they do in any other form of communication. If you send a threat to someone via internet then you go to jail. If you cuss someone's mother via the internet and the other person is close enough I assure you the fight will come to your doorstep just as quickly as if you said it in person. If you make a purchase via the internet then you are still just as liable for producing the item as if you wrote out the deal on paper in person.

The internet is a valuable resource the same as any other form of knowledge sharing. There are many places that do not care how you spell, use grammar or use capitalization. We DO NOT discourage those places from existing as they have the privilege the same as this site does. Do not mistake the privileges given to you there with the ones given to you here though. With every privilege comes responsibility and this site and it's moderating team will continue to promote, encourage and reward members for their help in keeping this a valuable and easy to read source information and communication.
Thanks,
Doug
