Ok, I looked around online and can't find any info on what type of gear oil to use in the transmition or rear diff.

I remember changing it on my old talon but well I'm not in GA, and I don't have my Haynes Manuel around. And I'm thinking a little Red line wouldn't hurt when I get back home.

Seems like I put 75w-90 or something like that in the previous talon I owned. Just wandering what the Manuel calls for, and what people say is better from personal experience.

I know (and have for a while) theres the GM syncro oil, but I have no clue about the weight needed.

Thx

i run:

1qt Redline MTL
1.3qt Redline MT90 (2.3qt capacity in the 1g AWD box)

It shifts great, and seems to protect a lot better than the synchromesh stuff. That stuff feels like water.

I run lightweight shockproof in the transfercase & rear end (75w140) and that seems to hold up great.

I'd say that if you're making any kind of power over stock, the investment of $10-15/qt is worth it.

If you're making a lot of power, NEO-RHD might be for you. :D

Thx... LoL maybe thats why the old (long gone) Tsi I had didn't shift any better after I changed the MT oil... proably because I put Mobil One 75w 90 gear oil in it. I wont make that mistake twice...

Lession #1 Do not lission to what others tell you, even if they claimed to have looked it up on there pos Advanced Parts computer. :|

I tried BG and didnt really feel a thing and now i got some crap in their now. how does redline hold up to extreme heat? the reason why i ask is because mine has been shifting like garbage when it heats up in the middle of the day.

thanks

the best gear oil to buy for our Manual DSM's is stuff called GEARSYNC i believe. it is Chevy's gear fluid. It works wonders with our synchros in DSM. My buddies TSi had a bad 3rd synchro and that cleaned it right up. I have yet to pick up a bottle....
