Twin turbo? [Merged 11-6]

So how big are your engines?

Cause mine is

3.8/2= 1.9

I want 6 to be my baseline, I don't think you guys are understanding that, I want huge amounts of room for improvement.

Sam

our engines are 1997 cc. With the t-25 it only runs outta breath over 6 grand, and with psi over 15!

So even tho you might wanna run 10 psi at a later date, you will be ok. And your S-II 3800 will only do 5500 and 10 or so psi without doing internal stuff to it. Now that you say you do have a budget to consider, you wont be ripping apart the engine anytime soon.

but hey, twin turbo sounds really cool :)

hehe, its funny that most real fast Supra TT cars have taken the stock twin turbos off and replaced them with a single unit :)

have fun, and when you start this project, get us some pictures, sounds like fun

Just fyi...rev's to 6 grand.

And thanks.

ok, sorry, forgot for a sec, I see so many cars at work. Still no biggie for the stock t-25, unless you are running it at 15psi and up you will be ok.

ok is it possible to make an eclipse twin turbo? if so where can i buy the kit or wut do i need

anything is possible if you have the $$$ know what i mean i have seen a tri-turbo supra so i am sure something can be done

Possible: Yes
Expensive: Very
Cost efficient: No
Worthwhile: IMO, No

DSM TT designs have been fabricated in the past, but they were not as efficient as the proven and reliable single turbo setup.

twin or more turbos are ment for V6, I6, V8 and such. like stated before its not efficient for 4 cylinder cars, it will only hurt performance.

this is true, becuase it is easier to just mate a turbo to each side of the engine...

keep in mind that all of the super powerful/fast supras and such convert from twin turbo to single turbo:thumb:

Doug, of doug's dyno power, has done a twin turbo using a pair of stock T25s off the 2nd gen cars. I think he told me is in a first gen car. He swore to me it works great. The last two times I have been to Vegas I have been to busy to stop bye as I would like to see it myself and go for a ride. Call him about it.

Ryda85,
If twin turbos are so great why do many supra owners opt for a single turbo conversion? I wouldn't even think about a twin turbo set-up in a DSM. Maybe just because I have never herd of any real success from it.

I can make you a twin turbo kit. It'll only cost $10k, a night with your wife/GF, your first born child, and a swift kick to your nutz.

But hey, you'll be the talk of the town! Yea! Look at that twin turbo DSM!

This is almost as stupid as converting a FWD DSM to RWD. LOL!

no that's just a divided housing. the new evo's have them too.

about the dual t-25 setup. last i saw he had it for sale once, and then after it didn't sell he had decided to just let it sit in a display case at his shop. but that was over a year ago back when the talon digest still worked.

if u did some research u would find that guys who own rx-7 and supras change to a large single turbo cuz they handle more boost and spool up alot faster then TT ur best bet is gettin a large turbo u will only be hurting urself with TT.... my buddy surge has an rx-7 ran a 13.6 with only a bov for faster a spool off the line well he changed his TT to a single turbo and ran an 11.9.. now u tell me wat u wanna do???

Actually, a bigger single will spool slower than an OEM sequential setup (like on the FD and MKIV Supras). BUT, the difference is that there is more HP potential with the bigger single and better reliability due to just having ONE turbo to troubleshoot instead of chasing down a billion vacuum hoses and actuators with the seq. setup. *Holy runon sentence!*

Even in true parallel function, a true twin turbo setup has more lag than the stock sequential system. Some FD guys report that while the power output of the seq. vs true parallel is comparably similar, just knowing that there are 3/4 less vacuum hoses is peace of mind enough for a little more lag.

Most of the time a single turbo is better, such as the case with dsm's, but not always. The fastest sklines and some of the fastest supras run tt setups. The Walser Supra is a prime example twin 2835 gt's = 851 rwhp.
