I checked the ignition fuse under the hood and its good.. multi meter to main power at ignition harness shows .3 volts with the fuse in, but nothing with the fuse out. Weird I thought it should be 12.5V I have to run a separate wire from the battery to the harness at the steering column just to start the car "hotwired"

background info.. car was stolen and then recovered and I've had this problem ever since.

could someone help point me in the right direction? thanks
 
I just had same problem on a car i bought from the auction. They cut the wire where a remote start was installed. never put the two wires back together properly so it would lose ignition power all the time.

Dont know if your car has/had remote start, but if so i can send you a elecctrical schematic with a littlw more detail
 
I would love to trace the wire back to the fusebox, but it seems to disappear into a mess of wires and shrink wrap. I can't find any signs of tampering and its weird that I do get a small voltage when the fuse is installed, as if the wire is intact. Could another circuit be shorting and causing the voltage to drop, but not enough to trip the fuse?
 
probably not i dont think it has a fusable link mine burnt up at the female terminal on the ign plug i would try running a new ign wire to the fuse box that way you have peace of mind and it wont leave you stranded dont use less than 10 gauge wire

thanks for the advise, I think this is probably the best option.. I like peace of mind heh, plus I could do it nice and neat and professional, unlike my current hotwire job rofl
