hey, did a search for people running t72's on their 4g63's and found nothing. i was wondering what kind of spoolup to expect from that monster on stock 2.0l ? would it be streetable at all? anyone with insight please help, tell me your opinions. also, how would it compare to fp 3052 and 3065? any help appreciated.
thanks

The T72 is one gigantic turbo, it would probably start to spool by redline. There are many other turbos out there that are much better for a stock 2.0l such has the FP Green, 50 trim, Fp 3052, FP 3065, even the Fp red is more streetable then the T72. The Fp30 series should be plenty of power unless your looking to make over 700hp, ofcourse this is jsut my opinion. :dsm: :talon: :laser:

You make it sound as if the FP Red is a bigger than the 3065. Or are you comparing the standard bushing to the ball-bearing? :D :dsm:

Being as that I have actually worked with a DSM that had a T72 Q trim on it I feel that I can provide you with some advise. DONT. Well, at least not on a stock compression stock displacement DSM. On a 9.0:1 2.4L it didnt make full boost until about 6400ish. Yeah so on a 2.0L it would be a bit laggy to say the least. It would probably start to come online real nice about the time you hit the rev limiter.

I would suggest something smaller. Anything. I'm an advocate of larger turbos that dont make full boost until 4500+ but a T72 is just too big for your application.

Isn't the FP Red bigger then the 3065?I thought the 3065 only spooled faster then the red but i never knew it was more powerfull then it.

Red is a 60 lb/min compressor, the 3065 is a 65 (or a bit more) lb/min compressor.

Yeah like everyone said on a stock motor hell no...Spool up time would be rediculous unless ur are tryin to build a all out drag car..People that i have seen run the t72 are mostly all out race cars and never really driven on the street..a to4s 60-1 might be what ur look for..or as everyone said again the FP turbos are sweet but pricey. All up to u and ur goals.

The T67 on my 2.3 gives 25 psi by around 5000 rpm with an O-trim .82. I went from 12.0 to 11.3 just by keeping the throttle floored during shifts (lag). I would hate to try it on a 2 liter. I Think for a 2 liter, and what its capable of flowing, a 65 lb wheel is ideal, and the 65 pound 56 trim is great. Its not easy to max out a 65 pound wheel in a 2 liter, the cast majority of people will never get over 55 lbs. So its a good fit IMO.

I'm running a PT67 P trim .58 a/r 3.5in discharge on my built 2.0, over size valves, 272's, 9:1 motor. I'm making 1 bar by 4700rpm with a noticeable turbo to manifold leak (which will be fixed for this weekend). I think I can make 20lbs by 5k, but we'll see.

Also, I think this thread belongs in the n00b forum ;)

I drove a guy's 98 honda prelude my friend was working on. It had the stock H22A engine with a T66 on it. the thing had a 4 inch inlet. That high compression 2.2 L honda engine spooled the turbo around 5500-6000 rpm and was making 6 psi. the boost hit hard and just spun the tires. Although the car was kind of fun as a novelty to drive I would honestly say that much lag is not worth 6 psi by redline in my opinion. The car also made about 270 HP on the dyno.

Personally I think you better think this over again "stock motor", I dont think any of those turbos t72,t66,fp green,fp red,3065,60-1....All those turbos should make well over 400bhp witch the "stock motor" probly wont cope with too good. I`d say the biggest you should go is a 50trim good spool up and streetable. forget about the "t72" it work be a waste unless your running a full out race car with more displacment nitrous and a standalone.

You should read a bit more before you make stupid comments like this. You are bringing this thread back from the dead for what reason?

Mark, you still got that Lightning cooler for an a/w setup? If not, where do you go about getting those? I can't find one to save my life.

Sorry,
I sold it a while back when I decided to just go with a A/A setup. I found mine on the svt lightning forums a while back. The heatexchanger is one of the first things those boys upgrade when they start making powerwith them. Just a suggestion.
