I want to buy a Mitsu turbo VNT TD04HL-15T and install it on my 1G Talon FWD... What would I need to modify to install this turbo instead of the OE TD05H-14B???

By the way, those any body knows if this VNT turbo is a good option for my car??

Hope someone can help me and give me an advice :talon: :thumb:

Thanks in advance! ;)

I'm wondering if "VNT" means the turbine housing has variable nozzle geometry...

It does. It's a MHI turbo used predominantly on Saab 9000 Aero's with a 6cm housing. However, from what I can tell, it doesn't support the same output as the standard MH/Garrett upgrade paths we have. But my experience with VNT stuff is limited.

Interesting Tev, thanks for that information.

I wonder how many options MHI has with regard to VNT's? Do you know?

Why would you want a TD04HL-15T ?

Becuase my 14B had just pass away and I want to improve the performance of my car. But if someone can give me or suggest me a good option (turbo) to replace theOEM one

I will apreciate any kind of help and suggestions

thanks in advance,

How about a used 14b? or any other turbo in the Mitsu series? Small 16g, Big 16g, EVO3 16g, 18g, 20g.......or hell you could even use some hybrids. How about a Gt25, or a GT30 series? How about a nice 50 Trim?

The site is LITTERED with "What kind of turbo's can I upgrade to" threads and you can't find out which ones? Every major DSM vendor sells the same basic subset of turbos yet you can't find which ones to upgrade to?

What are your goals for the car? In stock form an upgrade to a 16g variant is not a bad way to go because you don't absolutely need to upgrade other stuff like injectors, IC's, etc if you are running stock boost. Plus if you do upgrade, you can turn the boost up and get the better air flow. Anything over that probably you should shy away from unless you have the corresponding mods to support it.

Thanks Tevenor for your comments... I really apreciate a lot your help...
My car have several mods: Freemods + K&N + Open Exahust + B/S removed + Prothane motor mounts + Underdirve pulley + MBC at 14-16Psi + revised lifters... I think its all... my goals: just a good 1/4 mile time (14.50 will be OK!)... before my 14B stop spinning, my best time was 15.000.

So does the small 16G will be ok for my stuff and my goals??? what does you think???

Thanks!

A 14b sounds right for those mods. The HAVE gone 11s.
