how hard will it be to go from turbo to NA on a 92 laser

can i just put a NA header on and plug the oil lines or is the computer going to lean the A/F ratio out with no boost coming into the motor

whats the factory hp rating of this motor with the turbo

does the turbo head flow better than the NA or are they the same

also i would like to know if anyone makes a manual valve body for this car

in case your wondering this will be used to race on a 1/2 mile asphalt track(no turbos or superchargers) so if im going to use this car ive got to pull the turbo or find another car

You can have a bigger difference in compression ratios with a good amount of carbon build up on one engine (same type engine / different mileage). How many horsepower do you think you will get with .2 compression increase? Answer: Not many... You would need a DINO to measure it. :dsm:

umm yeah...if you could do your math right that's 1.2 compression difference :rolleyes: and obviously it would make a huge difference with out a turbo, otherwise why would mitsu waste money on putting a turbo in it? :tease:

As for Dail, the difference is not 0.2:1 it's 1.2:1. That's a very big difference in compression ratios. Most n/a engines use a compression ratio between 9.0 and 9.5:1, and a high performance n/a engine uses at least a 10.0:1 ratio to start with. To further illustrate this, I looked up the CR's of similar displacement 4 cylinder engines. Honda B-series engines have a compression ratio from 10.2 for a B16 to 11.1 for a B18C (Type R) engine. Nissan's SR20 n/a engines are 9.5:1. Subaru's EJ25 engine (from the old 2.5 RS) has a compression ratio of 9.7:1 which was later bumped up to 10.0:1. Even going by your math and raising the compression ratio to 8.0:1 won't be enough to put him on even footing. And that's if his competion is even using 4 cyl engines. I'd hate for them to be using a SBC or other V8 engine. Anybody who's ever driven one these engines when the wastegate arm pops off and you're left with 2 psi (myself included) will tell you that these cars can barely get out of their own way, much less race competitively.

As for the cams, well I got my info from the Chilton's manual, so if they're wrong, then they're wrong. It won't be the first time that's happened.

But he already said he's going to be installing high compression pistions in there, so he'll be fine. I doubt the ECU will notice any problems. The only thing I recommend is an AFC so you can make some adjustments as needed.
