Just a quick question or two about turbo spoolup. i own a 90 laser turbo and when in first gear but 1st gear only, unless I really get into it the turbo doesn't really spoolup. Is this just because 1st gear is so short or is my turbo weak? It acts really well throughout the rest of the gears so I would think there is nothing wrong with the turbo, right? I am getting about 12-13 lbs. of boost. well at least that's what the stock guage says. Bone stock car.

Thanx for any reply!

Jeremy

Stock gauge + short 1st gear = a really inaccurate boost reading. I am sure you get an amount of boost because there is still a load on your engine producing exhaust gases through the revolutions the engine is making. It just happens so quick that your stocker (gauge) isn't going to read it accurate or fast enough. If you are gettin up and going in 1st and can actually feel it in the rest of the gears you are fine.

Hope that all made sense.:D

With a stock car (restrictive exhaust and intake), coupled with the short DSM first gear, makes for slow boost.

My car is useless as crap in first gear. The boost comes on slow, and then when it hits it's instant rev limiter.
