2G Turbo maxing out

Hey guys, on my 95 gst, my turbo seems like it is maxing out just before 3000 rpms. Any advice???????

I think that big screw would be your idle screw and it should have a rubber seal I think

Yes it uses an o-ring, and is a popular leak spot.

If I'm not mistaken isn't stock boost max 16 psi? But safest to run 13 - 14 psi so you don't blow it apart.

Stock boost is 11 on a 2g. But yes, stock everything, leave it below 14 or your turbo will hate you. Besides which, its pointless to run higher than stock boost anyway. You wont feel any difference

So you're saying your car is falling on its face at 3000rpm? You probably have a boost leak or you're getting knock that's pulling timing.

What do you mean by knock? Cause right at 3000rpm's, no matter which gear im in, i get a knocking sound. Give it more gas, goes away. Let off the gas, goes away. But right at 3000 is when i hear it. My turbo is not a 14b, it is in fact a evo III "47". Starting to seem to want to flood out it seems like.....i know i got a vacuum leak somewhere, just having a really hard time finding it.

It helps to be a little mechanically inclined when owning a dsm . knock is detonation in the cylinder and when a dsm senses it then it will pull timing to save your engine from blowing to pieces....but if you are hearing a knock that kinda sounds like a jake brake on a semi you might have a big problem.

What exactly are you seeing? 'Cause my GS-T is also stock, and it doesn't make the same torque (pull-y feeling) above 4000 that it does around 3k. That's perfectly normal. You're still making more power at higher RPM, up to about 6k.

Also, figure out what Turbo you have! I've heard no less than three different Turbos, and all of which could mean very different problems.
