St.Albert,
So i went to go price out the difference between the super 16g and the t3/t4. So the local performance shops could only get turbo's from turbonetics and garrett but the garrett dosen't even come as a kit ethier, its only the turbo. I wanted a kit. Now i found one shop that can get me a price from the hahns racecraft. I'm going to call them and see if i can get a better price and get it sent right to my work. If u know of any kits that come with all piping, gaskets, lines and regulators/ Pumps, ect. Also i need the bottom end stuff too so can i get that in the kit to or do i have to go to eagle for rods and je for pistions, I'm keeping my eye on ebay for some stuff to but it will be what i don't get in the kit.

Any info or links that help would be greatfully appericated

Hahn is the only place that can supply you with asbolutely everything (CI aside, but their turbo kit isn't the greatest quality, in my opinion). Otherwise, you can buy the Star kit, and get the bottom end rebuild kit elsewhere. Other than that, you'll have to piece everything together from separate companies like the rest of us.

yea thats probably your best bet. You might be able so save money might not but you will definatly get the parts you want

SO u think i can save some money buy building the kit from scratch compared to just buying the set. keep in mind i"m doing the swap I'm my garage. I am just worrying about all the piping i don"t want to have to bend it all and rig all the lines.call me lazy but what ever.

How long did it take u guys to do the turbo upgrade but with internals as well?

And i have got all the numbers for the pricing on the kit so what am i looking at for cost. Keep in mind i won"t cheap out for a slightly better cost i want a fully built dependable engine and turbo.

thanks Nate

...you need A LOT of money

well i just finished buying all the parts for my kit and compared to the over 2000 dollar kits that hahn sells i would say mine is much better heres what it cost me
master power rebuilt and polished t3/t4 62-1 master power turbo- 550$
fpr-35$ and fmu-50$ (at the time i didnt now which one i was gonna be needing so i bought both)
universal piping with couplers and clamps- 120$
big front mount intercooler -100$
missing link-60$
new oil pan with fitting for my oil line also had it painted in a high temp paint-60$
custom external wastegate mani- 200$
flanges to bolt the bov up-13$
oil lines(i bought the fittings and made the lines from parts stores)- around 20$
greddy type rs bov- 35$
35 mm external wastegate 50$
downpipe flange - 15$ (and am gonna just make my downpipe from that)
total price-1308(sorry if i missed anything but i dont think i did, you could still build a kit for cheaper ive seen the turbos as cheap as 100 dollars)
i think thats everything and it makes a whole lot better kit than those other ones considering they sell some of the same kind of kits as high as the 4000 dollar range

At least $5,000 and about two years... Hell, I'm still not finished.

And keep in mind that slightly more expensive isn't always better. I pieced everything together in my car bit by bit; altogether it probably cost me less than any kit (not counting shipping, etc.), plus I got exactly what I wanted. Many kits come with inferior, in-house manufactured components.

Talk about things we've seen before!

After reading that...I'm glad I really took time in putting together my custom kit, hell I would feel better paying the money for a Hahn kit. Master Power huh...is there a reason it was recently rebuilt? What exactly is a big front mount intercooler, and where did you get this custom external wastegate manifold?

IM ALSO CURIOUS, because it was only 200 bucks. was it used?

Hey X, hows the mosquitos this time of year? :tease:

Ok, so I have a two part question kinda a follow up to building your own custom kit. First I have searched every where and can't find anything relating to what I am thinking of doing. Also, wret thinks I'm an idiot for trying to start a post on it. But anyway, I have a 95 GS-T, the motor runs funky and the body sucks, I don't want to fix it cause, just like most I'm poor. It has alot of aftermarket stuff that I think can be used to turbo my 420a 98 GS, I"m not talking about "SWAPING MOTORS" thats just dumb. Also, I'm not wanting to change the internals at all, I just want to turbo the engine so I don't get run off the road trying to get on the freeway, cause my car is to slow. Its a daily driver all I want is like 5psi, safe. I also know that the downpipe the IC piping I will have to get done, but the turbo on my GS-T or anything like the sidemount, oil feed line and coolant lines etc. can any of it be used to make a custom turbo kit? I'm trying to pinch pennies. can anyone help?:sosad:

no it wasnt used i knew the guy from previous works he had done, it was just his charging rate its not the prettiest thing in the world but he has good welding skills and i dont think i will have to worry about this mani leaking or anything

The questions you are asking have been answered a million times over. Don't thread hi-jack, and don't tell us that you've searched. If you had read anything about making a custom 420A turbosystem, you'd know which parts are compatible.

Where the hell did you get oil lines for around $20? I've got the fittings and everything for like $11 but NOT including the actuallines. The actual lines I;ve found are like $30 for just a feed.. And I'm not even sure if they'll fit my turbo! So please, tell me, where did you get your feed and return line for around $20, and do they actually fit?

Home Depot (or similar places) have stainless steel lines for decent prices, but I haven't checked them out lately.

The lines at home depot aren't supposed to handle oil travel. Don't use them.

However Paul(99GST_Racer) sells the lines, his prices were the cheapest I could find. I suggest going with him.:thumb:

I got a question about where i should run the oil lines from? correct me if im wrong but im thinkin i put the return line right into the oil pan, my buddie is a welder and will do that for me. as for my feed line i want to go off the oil pressure sending unit use a split adapter and run it to the turbo off the adapter if this is a bad idea let me know. and also do i have to worrie about tacking a baffel * to the oil pan where my return line is?

Sorry about the spelling im at work.
Ty Nate

That's right. Get a fitting braized or welded to the oil pan for the return line. The feed line should come from a split at the oil sensor switch.

AHH the lack of seaching is making me sick!

Yeah, if I see any more questions that could've been answered through searching, this thread is closed. Just a friendly reminder...
