I know that there are many companies that sell intercooler piping kits for the 4g63t but I can not find a site on where I can get good piping for a rs/gs. Where do you guys/girls recomend that I should get my piping? Not looking to spend too much, just doing a custom kit instead of getting a kit that is put together. I am only looking to run 5-8psi right now untill I can get enough funds to build the motor.

menkie, or any custom exhaust shop can make the piping for you. All you need to provide them is. Location of the intercooler, location of the turbo and orientation. And blow off valve location and type because they need to flange it.

Then you need to go out and buy intercooler couplers, and clamps.

any ballpark figure of what they might charge?

I'd say somewhere between $1 and $1,000. It depends on what type of bends you have in the system, the type of piping you choose, the inner diameter of the piping, and the footage required.

IMO, you need to have the turbo at least mocked-up in place and make measurements at that point. Will you need 2.0" ID? 2.25" ID? 2.5" ID? 3.0" ID? What kind of IC will you be using? A side mount? Front mount? Will the front mount have inlet/outlet on the same side or opposite sides? These are all the sorts of things you need to know before you can get a good estimate of cost. The more of these things you can confirm, the more accurate the information.

If I asked how much a custom speaker enclosure might cost, could you give me an accurate idea based on the question alone? Of course not. Same situation.

LOL, thanks brian.

I made my own IC pipes. I got 2.5'' u bends from DSMmotorsports and cut the mandrel bends. cost $120 plus misc. couplers clamps. Not easy :thumb: good luck :dsm:

Nothing is easy unless you have the right tools.

If you want to bend your pipes using just a vice and want to retain the interior diameter as much as possible, there is a little trick my high school autoshop teacher taught me.

Cheap way
First take a stop at the beach and bring a bucket.

Couple bucks
Buy a bag of sandbox sand from home depot.

Take your pipe and get pipe ends that plumbers use to close the end of pipes. Really helps if you had screw on ends on your piping. Fill with a little bit of sand 1-2" and tap the bottom end of the pipe to get the sand to settle. Repeat until the whole pipe is full, then clamp it in a vice and either using a wrench or a hammer, bend it into the shape you need.

This wont come out perfect, but it can save you hundreds until you can afford a perfect shop made piping setup, or a kit.

If I understand correctly, there should be somthing between the pipe walls and the actual sand right, because I would hate to miss a piece of sand, even after cleaning and have it get into my turbo, or even worse my engine.

Dude. It's sand in a piece of pipe. Can you say garden hose? I knew you could. :D

Mandrel U-bends, cut and welded it. Total cost of piping and couplers was $60, easy as pie... mmmm i want some pie
