Would a front mount be benificial? If so what size would be recomended? Also do I need the missing link for my 96?? I've read through dozens of threads and cant find an exact answer to this question (could have over looked). Thanks all,

-CKiel-

Yes an intercooler is benifical it will cool your compresed turbo charged air and that will givr you more hp. it will also allow you to run higher boost levels too.

size would depond on how much hp your looking for
or
most people get one to fill the mouth in the frount bumper
24x12x3 is my i/c size
I heard thet the early 2gnt's don't need a ML but having one isn't going to hurt you either

i believe its only the 95's that dont need one.

but having one isn't going to hurt you either

not true, i put one on mine a couple days ago and got a huge vac leak and the car kept dieing.... but mine must be a piece of shit, it shouldnt hurt to put one on.

FMIC is always benifical. Looks hot too. ML I do believe is needed on the 96... If you put it on and find out later that you need not have it, you can sell it easily. eghey has them for like 60 bucks last time i looked.

I know one of the early n/t's did not need the ml but coul not remenber the year

It all depends on your ECU and exactly what part of the year in 96 your car was made, because some 96's still run obd1. If you have to take it to a shop and find out what ECU type you have, OBD1 should mean you don't need missing Link, OBD2 like us new NT's have means you do.

when i ordered my kit from importparts.com they asked me what year my car was i just told them 96 and the guy said i dont need it. Im putting it on in may so I will find out then if i need one or not

A missing link is not required on the '95 because it doesn't experience fuel cut. Some '96s are OBD1 and some are OBD2. If you have an OBD1, then a missing link is not required. If you have an OBD2, it is required. You will need to find out if your car is OBD1 or OBD2. Simply calling Mitsu with your VIN will answer the question.

Another good indicator would be the location of the stock fpr, if it's under the hood you more than likely have obd2, under the car in rear by the gas tank it's probably obd1

either way rock on with the turbo! :rocks:
you'll love it :)

other way around, 95's and early 96's have it under the hood and are obd I, late 96-99 have it in the back and are obd II

I"m sorry did you just say your going turbo now too? Thats awesome, Are u peicing a custom kit, buying a star/hahn kit or what?
I think your a young gun like me, so I guess thats why I'm so interested. :thumb:
Well Good luck, and let me know how it goes, I should be star kit'in up this month. Just ordered the 60mm TB from Modernperformance.com. They have it in colors now too FYI (the website says silver only, but I ordered a blue one today.)

Yup, he finally decided to do it :dsm: He's putting himself together a custom kit that's gonna end up running less than $1k :shhh: Anyways, did you get that darn manifold done yet or what chris? :boring:

actually i finished the main part today. i would post pics, but you guys would probably say "holy shit he cant weld and sucks at life!!" i need to cut an opening for the collector i dont have yet and weld the collector and flange on it. right now im in the middle of installing my walbro 255 and vortech fmu. i also drilled a hole in my oil pan today and welded a steel bushing in there. now im definatly not showing a pic of that because, LOL well it started out as a nice weld, but i had a leak somewhere, and now its just a mess of metal welded everywhere LOL. ahhh hell ill go take a pic of the manifold so far. hold on.

ok heres the sneak peak. these will be in the write up. it will be a nice write up i hope. dont laugh, here they are. oh yeah, my work area is mighty clean LOL

hmm, that's weird considering mine's in the rear and I'm obd 1 and I don't have a missing link, black box,etc and it runs just fine(no fuel cut) maybe my car was built in a transition period or something. I think I'm gonna have to research this

btw good luck putting together your own kit, mani looks nice just needs cleaned up a bit and jet hot coated :thumb:

the welds do suck but who really cares? if it works, it works ;)

exactly, i dont care how it looks as long as it gets the job done.

for those interested I do have an obd 2, checked with the dealer to confirm, for some reason though even without a Ml or the black box I'm not getting any fuel cut and everything is working fine, maybe just my car. Only thing I can think is it was originally an automatic and I of course converted that over to manual. When I did this I had to remove the tranny's ecu located in under the dash(by were the shift cables come thru) because the car was running like crap-cutting out, etc.
I can't really be certain but perhaps an ecu from an automatic in a manual changes things up( assuming the ecu's are different which is very possible)

anyways just thought I'd fill you all in on this if you were intereseted.
