turbo installation

I am going to install a 14b I got off of ebay on my 1g in a couple of weeks. Do I really have to take the exhaust manifold off? Is there any easier way to do it? I really dont want to take the manifold off and risk the chance of breaking the bolts in my head.

maybe you can slide it in from underneath, I did this in an AWD but didnt have a radiator in it and a few other things. If it is that much of a worry there is a way but it may be a lot of pain. My suggestion is bite the bullet, soak the sh*t out of the studs and give them a crack. good luck

If you take off your radiator fans it is really really easy. If you have two people to do it it'll be cake.

with a few tricks youll be fine. i got my b16g in w/o removing the manifold. taking the fans out really helps out. only 8 10mm bolts. good luck

For me;
Remove intake.
Remove DP.
Remove A/C fan.
Remove oil and water lines.

Remove the nut on the turbo stud and washers on the stud. Then do the double nut trick on the stud, back it out the turbo, and completley remove the stud first (PB Blaster, breaker bar, and heat). Then work on the other three bolts and it will drop out without removing the manifold. Removing the stud first is the key.
It worked for me.
