Leamington,
hey guys...

im totaly new to this site...and totaly new to cars!.....im getting a 92 talon tsi turbo pretty soon...and i was just wondering if all turbos on this sites parts catalog fit all dsm's....cause im gonna upgrade my talon with a beter turbo...and i also want to know what else do i want to upgrade on my car...like will i need a wastegate? and what is that anyway LOL....i just need information on that kind of stuff..but my main question is ...do all turbos listed on this site fit all talons....thx

Start by looking here... http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/1gturbo/

Read the Stage 0 which is your free mods that can be done to your car. Then work your way into stage 1.

But yes every turbo on this site CAN be fit into the dsm's. Some may require a new exhaust manifold, o2 housing and downpipe. Some of them are bolt on.

But please read alot before you go out and buy a upgraded turbo.

yeah..thx...dont worry i got a great friend to back me up so i dont do anything stupid LOL...
but yeah...what turbo would you guys recomend me to get..im a newb...like ..i dont know i just want something that is a bar over the stock turbo you know? im not into 9 second drag racing or anything....just something powerfull enough!...so with one should i get?

I would just sugguest doing a rewire on your fuel pump, and then getting a boost controller. Then up the boost to 15 psi. Get yoruself a boost gauge so you can monitor boost too. That should hold you off for now. You will deff feel a difference in power. And while you enjoy that new found power, read up! LOL

what about another turbo...with one sould i get if i want more power than that..like for a first new turbo what do you recomend...?

There are several things needed to be said.
Only b/c I just got off of probation for this- You really need to watch your spelling, punctuation or a moderator will get you into trouble- I am just trying to help you, you will get 5 warnings before you get suspended- and I do not want that to happen to you!

Ok, first, there are many things you need to know long before you even consider a larger turbo. The main thing is, the 14B is an extremely adequate turbo! It has seen the 11 sec. realm.
General things to look into are an exhaust system, turbo- back, cat-back, 2.5"/3". For now, I would look into a 2.5" cat-back exhaust system! Definitaly an intake pipe, K&N filter, And if you buy a manual boost controller, you can turn up the boost a little ( after you possess an aftermarket boost gauge of course!) and it will blow away stock 1G/2G.

You really need to look around the site before you ask ??? but it is ok, I did the same thing! But do your research, believe me! You will find more than enough info for what ever issue you will need!!

If your car is manual, then you have a really good turbo right there.

If your car is auto, then find a 14b turbo. The 14b comes out of stock manual 1g. (90-92)

To get the most power out of your turbo, invest some money in a SAFC2, Walbro pump (190 or 255), a boost controller, and some gauges. Gauges that most people use are oil pressure, boost, and egt. Dont be cheap because if the gauges break on you, you wont even know it and you will blow the engine. Many people use Autometer gauges, they have a wide variety.

So Install the pump (100$), boost controller (<100$), safc2 (300$) and gauges, at the very least the boost gauge. Turn the boost up, add fuel using the safc2 and notice the gains.

Follow the tech guide, you can get some pretty decent horsepower out of your 1g without having to upgrade the turbo since it is not being used to its full potential with the stock settings.

Make sure your car is up to par with maintanence before you perform any modifications!! That alone is an extremely important upgrade that may yield the most productive!

I agree very much so, however, I would think that he is not ready for the need of an SAFC-2, definitaly later on though! If you get a fuel pump - you will only really need a 190lph fuel pump, consider the re-wire mod. And if you do go 255lph, then you will require an AFPR!!
Also, the 14B, came in all 1G's ( 90-94)- if they were 5spd!

i see...sorry for the spelling..i grew up in quebec....french....anyway...
ok so if i just boost up my psi to 15 i should get more power...but is that harmfull to the stock turbo?..will it damage something ..i dont know cause im gonna be riding my talon pretty ruff...and i read that a better clutch would be better so it dosent slip....?

Yes, a stonger clutch is definitaly something to look into, but take your time when modifying your car. Do it right the first time! You will need at least a boost gauge, you will need at least an exhaust and an intake system, and a manual boost controller. If your car has good maintence. Then I would go ahaed.
Start slow though, install everything, then turn up the boost, 1PSI at a time, go from stock- you gain roughly 10HP per every 1 PSI (complete estimate) :thumb:

The best thing you can do, is just search through the forums and view the tuning guide. Any question you can think of has been asked on here so chances are, you can search your problem and find the answer here. Good luck and happy learning!

ok cool...yeah i cant wait...that talon is gonna be my baby and i dont want another dsm with a blown motor so ill be carefull for sure... see you guys later..its 2 in the morning ...good night
