hello everyone

me and 2 of my friends will be building an awd project car,we looked at subaru and mitsubishi cars and decided to use 4g63 since its narrower than the ej engines

now we don't have much knowladge about the 4g63 so i figured i'd ask here

what would be a suitable choice of turbo and cams for a higher compression low boost setup

will be using stock head, higher comp pistons, stock manifold, upgraded fuel system with larger injectors

also we have heard that crankwalk is an issue on 4g63s now that they are old,is it true or a rarity thats exaggerated

Whats high compression to you 9 to1..You know we can tune for that right, not really needed to stay low boost with a great tune..

You also need to put up more info, eloborate what chassis, what 4g63,what the car will be used for,ETC ETC..

If you use a 4g63 6 bolt out of an older DSM (pre 92.5) then crankwalk is practically non-existent. Also some of the 7 bolt 4g63s in FWD 99s were changed to help eliminate crankwalk as well. Don't quote me on that, I read it somewhere on this forum but I've never heard anything else about it. And technically any engine can get crankwalk, it's just more prone in 4g63s. It's definitely overexaggerated, but it can happen.

And good choice, a lot of those Subies have glass trannies. I was looking for a bugeye before I decided on a mitsu.

was thinking 10.5:1 then get a responsive turbo and use low boost thats consistent throughout the range, consistent and managable power throughout the rev range is what we are looking for

will get an engine and awd drivetrain from an older evo or a dsm since they are cheaper, drive shafts will be custom made

the car will be for dirt track racing (not the oval thingy in usa, dirt tracks with turns and straights) and will be built from scratch

Sounds like an fp 68hta or fp 71hta might be a good turbo for you. Check out their website.
