Ok ,I replaced my Exhaust Manifold , and 14b turbo. Got everything put back together. Realized that I forgot to tighten a bold . Instead of taking everything apart,we rigged a wrench to work . Everything was going good . Then the damn bolt snapped. I posted pictures of the bolt . Does anyone know the name of the bolt and where to get one ? Any help is greatly appreciated .I think the head was a 19mm . Also I just realized I forgot to put this part back in .:ohdamn: I think it goes in between the turbo housing and the EM . Can I part without it or should I take it all apart again and put it in ? ERRRRR......FYI... the picture for the part mentioned in the last of my post is the last picture posted .

That's a banjo bolt and copper crush washer. You can find them right at the link below. It may be the 12mm or 14mm one. I know for a fact that the one in the pictures in front of the one you broke is a 14mm. If the heads are the same size, then the 14mm one is what you need.

That last picture is the sealing ring. It's supposed to smooth the airflow between the exhaust manifold and turbo. It may slow your spool just a little without it. Not much though. If you want to put it back, you can take it all apart and replace it or wait until you feel like it.

HA! I see I'm not the only gorilla out there. LOL I broke the bolt that goes into the head once, same line. You could get lucky like I did, and remove the line, and the top be sticking out enough to grab it with some needle nose. BTW I had a time finding one, and just ended up making my own.

BTW, I think I may have an extra one laying around from a 14b swap last year, I'll check.

For anybody who doesn't.

Hey, just thinking, I left that sealing ring out on my car too, I haven't had any bad problems, my turbo bolts loosened up once or twice, is it critical to have?

ya that really sucks as bad as you thing it does.

you might as well take the turbo out now. with as hard as it is to get to that bolt normally your going to have a worse time trying to get the rest out. If you have the option to work on a bench or with a vice, take it.

2 big things with the easy out. trying not to get any metal shards of any size down into the bearings and trying to to break the easy out in the bolt their by rendering the turbo useless.

you may want to try to flush it with oil when your done to remove any possible metal bits. run a really light oil in the clean side and out the side with the bolt you just removed. heck maybe even just cooking oil.. just a thought.

be REALLLY careful when ## tapping it out the last thing you need in the world is to have metal shavings in there.. The bolts a Banjo bolt and yea ez out it but be REALLLLY carefull man . I think thats like the 1rst or 2nd WORST bolt to ever break

I found that a craftsman socket wrench and a short craftsman socket will fit on there, and you can tighten it easily! Its got to be craftsman though, I tried a different socket and it would not fit.

The bolt is 12mm, and the part you left out is the fire-ring. It's not there to 'smooth' out exhaust gases, it's there to protect the gasket from heat... if you value your gasket (and you should) you need to get the ring back in there. Since you broke your banjo bolt you need to take off your manifold anyways.

Ok , so I was able to turn the bolt out by hand . Bought a new bolt and crush washer . Put it in and started it up . The thing is still leaking oil from what looks like to be the same spot as the picture above . Any ideas on what the hell is going on ?

Yes , it got two brand new crush washers when I ordered the bolt and both are on . And yes there is only one on the other . I really don't know what could be going on

EDIT : Problem solved , the crush washer they gave me was too big . Go figure . Now all I have to worry about is burning all the oil out of my tailpipe . Lots of smoke !! But it will go away sooner or later .

NOTE TO MODS** You can close this post and mark it solved .

Thanks DSMers for all the help . Your awesome as usual . :hellyeah:
